LS is not on EOBR and our numbers suck. Ranger is at 55 and Inway is at 59. Less then 1 point from problems. You look at companies with EOBRs and they blow us away, even Swift, with all the students they have.

eobr wasn't the consideration. it's the safety stats in general for anyone. eobr or not.

Makes everything you say suspect, when you cant even get the data correct on the safety management system.

You will have to look very hard to find carriers with intervention scores...
There are 745,996 registered DOT#s in the United states as of 4/27/12
and 513,507 have had activity in the past 24 months.
54,800 of those are above the intervention level in any basic or 10.6% of active carriers
Fatigued driving is 27,809 above the intervention level, or 5.4% of active carriers.

    from http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/SummaryReport.aspx

And once again, elogs, and eobr's are two different electronic devices. Elogs is just one part of an eobr.

and as all discussions do, this one also went in a different direction.

Elogs have some advantages, and some disadvantages, the biggest disadvantage is NOT being able to drive for 5 minutes to my receiver from the truck stop, and not log it until later in the day. Now that move starts my 14 hour clock. I and dispatch are adjusting.

If we would go back to the pre-2004 way of filling out a logbook I would have no problem with EOBR's. There was much more flexibility and sensibility then. Yes mandating Elogs will force most drivers/carriers to run much closer to Legal.

I think the argument that those of us who oppose ELOGS are trying to make is that the current HOS rules are not sensible or practical. Their only REAL purpose is to create revenue for the FEDS and destroy small businesses.

I have done paper logs for over 20 years
I started with a new company just 3 months ago. They are on elogs..I do not get paid by the mile I get percentage.
I cant belive I am about to say this...I LOVE MY ELOGS... I get my rest every day.. if I get a break down or spend to much time at a shipper or reciever..TO BAD...when the 14 is up ITS UP and I am a parking. for my 10..if the load dont get there on time its NOT MY problem..I was out of hours and it will be rescheduled...now...let me say this...98% of my shippers and recievers are open 24/7 365 so they pretty much just take it when I get there...I also pull a tanker so alot of times I never see anyone anyway I load myself and unload myself...and since I dont get paid by the mile I dont really care how many miles I drive a day...
NOW listen closely here If you are computer savay and play with your elogs YOU can fiddle with your times...you cant change drive time but you can edit things to get time back on your 70

say all you want but i know who i looked at and there numbers were high.

like i said before. eobrs are only out becuase most can't properly fill out a log.

but hey, maybe i shyould start stacking up on coffee and power drinks so i can be a super trucker and do what the computer tells me to do.

on second thought, i;ll pass. i like being able to stop without anyone getting on my case when mother nature calls. and being to move when i need to.

i like FREEDOM. which is what this country so bodly advertises it has. but most importantly. i'm gauranteed to come home and see my wife and kids again. with my truck in one peice. and not 15 minutes shy becuase i have to stop for a 34.

it's also nice that i don't have to flag my entire day at the shipper and then have to take a 10. but i have to move off the property first.

oh wait, i don't pull a reefer. i'm usually gone in 90 minutes.

i felt sorry for the driver in columbus new mexico. who had to park out in the dessert at closing time for the weekend. 500 feet from the mexican border. 30 miles from civilization. or all the trucks sitting on top of the mountain pass 2 days ago. 50 miles from civilaztion in both directions. becuase they were out of hours due to TWO construction zones shutting the freeway down to one lane. AND ONE SEMI ACCIDENT THAT SAW HIS LAST MILE ON THE ROAD. and won't be seeing his family anymore. 3 incidents. 8 hours to drive 50 miles. lotsa trucks sleeping on the side of the road.

yes sirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, i'll have one of them boxes now. cuz i can't fill out a log properly and i WANNA BE told when i can and can't do my job.

It is the attitude that one does not have to obey the law, because it is inconvient, that has caused the push for more control. Even though it is a small percentage of lawbreakers.

And those you checked, are not on elogs, and have high scores, and companies on elogs havelower scores. Makes the govt case, that everyone must be on elogs.
