Don't let the Shippensburg terminal give you the wrong impression of USX. Our crappiest terminal. They have broken ground on the new facilities there.

Trucking advice in general. Stay away from negative people. Do not let them poison you or waste your time.
Treat everyone with respect, including the office and shop people on the phone. No matter what is going wrong, do not be the next a55hole on the phone. Remember that most of the people they talk to are angry about something so stand out in a good way and good things will happen to you.

Haha I agree the shippensburg terminal isnt the nicest of the bunch. Not sure if it's better or worse than the Ellenwood GA terminal though haha. But I heard the new facility in shippensburg is going to be real nice so that's cool.

Advice for who ever is going to orientation especially at shippensburg. Be prepared to do alot of waiting around on your last day to hear if your hired or not. When I was there none of us found out we were hired till about 8 o'clock at night. It seemed like an iternity though!

Good luck Monday it will all go by faster than ya know it!

Well I took the plunge and said "YES!" to US Xpress! I have my orinentation next week in Dallas! I am going to be on a Western Regional run from Coors right here in Golden Colorado!

Any tips on the Orinentation? Will they put me under a load from Dallas? Any other input?

That is funny. we actually kind of like Ellenwood. The lounge is very nice, very quiet and you can park right next to it. Shop does good work and they are usually pretty quick. Also, brand new Walmart very close and great BBQ just down the road.

I like Ellenwood much better than Shippensburg. At least it has a lounge. Not too fond of the shop at Ellenwood though. Does Shippensburg even have laundry facilities? I didn't notice any while I was there.

We've had an eventful few days. After getting a 34 in Richmond Hill, GA (if you ever stay at that TA, check out Steamers on the other side of I95) we had a PU in Waynesboro, Ga heading to Concord, NC. Then a PP picking up at that place and headed to Woodland, PA.

Well, I shut off the truck to run into the TA to get some water to make some food. Five minutes later I came back out and the truck wouldn't start. I knew right then it was bad batteries. Of course breakdown disagreed, thinking the starter was just overheated. They finally OK'd a jump and I left it running. So the next morning I get up and the regen light has kicked on. I figured that we'd get moving soon and it would regen while we were headed to the PU. Nope. An hour later I have the flashing regen and CEL. Time to do a parked regen. That made us rush to our PU, but we made it on time.

We get to the fuel stop and my trainee asks if he should leave it running. Seemed like a smart thing to do, BUT I knew we couldn't just keep the thing running forever so I told him to go ahead and shut it off. Sure enough it wouldn't start. Breakdown sent someone out to give us a pull to get it started, then told us to head straight to Lexington (now we're getting somewhere). We passed our receiver on the way, but I knew better than to drop it off then.

We get to the shop in Lexington and there are 30 trucks ahead of us...until she sees we are under a load that delivers that evening. Now we are 3rd in line (see why I didn't drop the load?). We get 4 new batteries and are on our way.

Drop and hook in Concord and heading to Woodland. I get a call asking if we can repower a load going to near Columbus, OH. Sure, why not. I am told he will send the info. In the meantime I keep going, n ot sure where this repower will take place. An hour and a half later I get the info to meet the other truck about an hour SOUTH of me, so I have to turn around and go back. Get there and swap trailers and wait for the new load info. Get a call an hour later that we need to swap back. Turned out the other guy does not have hazmat...LOL. I can't believe he didn't notice those green stickers on the trailer and the HM marked on the bills. So we swap back and still manage to make the delivery early.

Now I'm sitting at the Flying J in Carlisle. We are picking up a load in the am headed to Fontana, CA. That trip out and then back to Tunnel Hill should put my student at or over his 120 hours. I told him not to expect a run straight from Cali back to TH though. Right now he is at around 87 hours or so...moving right along.
