Sure.. Blame it on the auto shift......you forgot to open the trailer doors before you backed in didn't you?

We are in Amarillo TX for the night. We noticed on our last load check that we had a leaking hub seal on the trailer, so we stopped here in case we needed a new seal. After we got here, we found another one was starting to leak on the other side. He popped both covers off, cleaned the seals off, and added a little gasket maker stuff to it. We got them back together and we'll see what happens tomorrow. We only have 13 hours left to drive and we still have 1080 miles to go. It looks like we will get to play tourist for the weekend.

 

I have another question? I i am waiting for a load do i get paid for the down time. Would that be considered a layover.

 

no its not layover...not unless its been over 24 hours....even then its sketchy if youll get layover pay...now if you have a load plan and you are on time after 2 hours your supposed to get detention pay...but you have to log sleeper...and if you get a ten hour break in well then you dont get anything cause then its considered a break...

I always got a 34 and layover as long as I had 6 hours available.

 

you don't have to log sleeper continuously just because they're not ready for you in a detention situation.

if you are at a customer, and there is big delay on their part, you can log sleeper for a couple of hours, then go on duty for 15 minutes to go ask whether they're ready. you have to go on duty if you step out of bed, according to the FMSCR and roehl's "no off-duty at customer" policy.

go back to your truck and go back on sleeper for a couple more hours, then go on duty again and ask again if they're ready. take your 10 hour break only after you're loaded and done with them.

you'll have to make up your own mind whether the detention pay is worth the delay, but it's an option you have.

 

You did remember you have to close them too, right?

 

Heads up to anyone who gets routed up or down us23 from south Carolina to Ohio or anywhere in between. Its a horrible road. That's all I have to say. Took 9 hours to drive 400 miles.
