I'm an owner operator still making payments on my truck. I was doing some work in my dash and I think I found a tracking device. It was hide very good. If I wasn't taking my dash apart I never would have found it. I guessing the dealer or bank had it put in when I bought the truck. My question is is it legal to put it in my truck without me knowing about it. I have a picture of it, still trying to figure out how to add a picture to a post.

Who owned the truck before you? That's probably the one who put it there.
-
Likely from the previous owner , lot easier for them to just deactivate it than tear the truck apart to remove it when traded or sold.
-
as long as you're making payments, you don't own the truck and whomever does, can do as they please........

If you disconnected it due to electrical issues.

Don't they have to put something like that in the contract, or tell you about it? -
I think they have to notify you in Tennessee Law. Not sure about other states. Pretty sure they hide it in the mouse print you sign in the loan documents.

Nope, it's probably like a Lo-Jack. Until you pay the truck off, they want to know where it is if they have to repossess it.

I remember hearing a news report about a guy in GA that reported his Mercedes stolen . He didn't know the previous owner had installed LoJack . The police were able to activate it and found the car hidden in a warehouse owned by the owner that reported it stolen.
