I dont know man I have read this thread from start to finish and I am still tempted to apply for the I 5 regional I am only 20 minutes from their Turlock terminal so I am thinking hometime shouldnt be an issue. I have been local for a year now and I am getting the itch to go back out but i am not itching so bad that I want to be gone three or four weeks at a time. We do alot of laoding and unloading and it is already starting to take its toll on my back. So I dont know we will see. I think my wife might be getting tired of looking at me every night too. lol

If you work for Wayne in Turlock, you will be running apple juice down from the Yakima valley, or Hood River Oregon, to City of Industry, and Corona Ca. A LOT. You should be by the house a couple times a week, for a drive by. Get ready to sit in L.A. waiting to unload for anywhere from 2 hours to 20 hours. The loading in Wa. and Oregon goes much better than the unloading in L.A. Don't expect to go east.

I am thisclose to getting hired by Swift for their dedicated account with Wal-Mart. If I'm hired I'll be working out of Wal-Mart's grocery DC in Arcadia delivering to stores all over south Florida. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

    Let's see.

In the blue corner we have Walmart dedicated and a practically new volvo, with a steady paycheck that pays the bills,a lot of nights at home, and I never have to leave south Florida. Lots of flat land. Lots of beach towns. No more slick roads in the winter. Lots of young girls in their 20s riding around in convertibles wearing very little. More chances to see a Dolphins game when I have a day off.

In the red corner we have Southeast regional and a ragged out Freightliner Columbia, with a smaller paycheck that will pay the bills but not much else, one night at home per week, and I could be sent as far north as Kentucky at any time. Lots of time in Georgia, a state I have grown to deeply loathe. Lots of mountain grades. Slick roads in the winter. Lots of people who can't drive on them. Hair-brained Georgia DOT cops with xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

I'll let you be the judge.

Is IRT still not paying detention ?

When I talked with them a while back detention was a no go.

2 to 20 hours is a long time.

Those who want something to read are probably going to end up being the only ones keeping it going. The rest of us have nothing left to contribute
