I worked for Arrow from 2000 to 2003, I started off at Reg. Texas. It sucked so I went to Vans, Sorry to hear they closed the Van Div. Anyway, There was a guy in the Dallas yard that could turn your truck up to any speed, and the computer would read 65 mph. It would cost $50.00, I never did it, I'm the type of driver that gets caught anytime I bend the rules.:biggrin_25524:

I currently drive for Arrow. Not a bad company, just a few bad apples in the office. I have asked around and the person who was supposed to have come over from Swift has actually been with us for about 14 years, so no real truth there(I've seen the gentleman's resume and I would consider being accused of working for Swift as slander:biggrin_2559:). I have asked around in several different departments in Tulsa and so far no one knows anything about changing the current speed policy. Our current speed policy is 65 +5. We get an extra 5 mph if our fuel economy(mpg) is over 6 mpg. I can drive just as safe at 75 as I can 55 in a truck and if these clowns coming from driving schools could do the same(adjust speed appropriately for conditions - traffic volume, weather, darkness, etc.) we would probably have a little more freedom. I don't know why a lot of these guys want to put the pedal down and keep it there regardless of where they are or the conditions around them, it is both careless and reckless.

In the case of swift and few others 60 is more than what they can handle safely.

The biggest problem is rumors and people not knowing what they are talking about.
The problem is not the company you drive for but the drivers who drive for the company. I see so many big trucks not Schneider, Swift or so on being right on a 4 wheelers tail. It could be your mother or another one of your family members driving. That just can't be safe.
    # Oldschool...It was May 1997 when Schneider went to Freightliners and raised thier speed limit to 63 on the floor and 65 on cruise.
I owned my truck with Schneider for 10 years and some times out west I'd set my cruise on 70-75. I could cruise at 80 and do triple digits on the floor. I realize I was wasting money and slowed down. When I was dedicated and did a lot of Michigan, as a owner operator I set my cruise at 60 and turned on my XM radio.
Schneider has more drivers over a million miles then some companies have in thier whole fleet. I think 65 is a good speed, but you will learn that a lot of SMART owner operator will drive at slower speeds. Company drivers that don't pay for fuel will want to continue to drive 70-75 MPH. I also saw a company driver sell 100 gallons of fuel for $200, that's why companies have to find a way to save money or pay thier drivers better.
We are our worst enemies and the government loves us as we argue all the time. I love driving my Pumpkin Truck even more as a company driver with benefits.
Just an opinion from a 15 year rookie driver.

How does arrow pay their drivers? If they pay hourly, welcome the slowdown! If they pay per mile, then that could be a problem. It also depends on where you drive, for example if you only drive in California where the speed is 55, it might not be so bad, but if you are driving in states with higher speed limits, sounds like you would be a road hazard.

I guess, like someone else suggested, if its that bad you could work for another company, or become an o/o. My husband and I became o/o's about 2 1/2 years ago, it is nice as far as you do have more freedom, but it also has its own problems to deal with that can get pretty stressful at times.

There is no slow down in the works for Arrow drivers. My truck runs 70 mph and I generally keep the cruise set at 65. They may look at different options later due to the number of rookies who can't seem to handle the truck, but they will not like affect the experienced drivers.
