Have a 2005 387 pete and have a rattling noise in both doors. Seems to be coming from the area behind where the mirror mounts on the door. Have torn the door apart (All except the mount for the mirror) and cannot find what could be making the noise.
Anyone know what is causing this? Is about to drive me insane

Thanks, that would be great. When I contacted Peterbilt customer care, the guy in engineering wanted to know if I could take pictures and record the noise it was making??? I'm thinking if the guy that designed the truck doesn't know what it looks like behind the door skin, who would!!

KW coulednt fix it on the T-2 either, sorry to say its not gonna get any better

1, When you open the hood, there is a trim panel, just ahead of the door, about 6 inches wide, at eye level, try tightening that up.
2, If you have the hood that is secured shut by 2 cup type things ( ie. Not rubber straps) try putting some well greased cloth in the cups so the "pins" don't rattle inside them. (the "pins" are large and look like half footballs)
Worked for me although i still get a little rattling noise.

I used to have a 387 Pete and had the same problem. Believe it or not, what was causing the rattle was the pivot point on the break-a-way mirrors. Every so often, I would fold the mirror in and take WD-40 and spray in between the pivot point of the mirror and then just work it back and forth a little. This worked for me. Hope it fixes yours.

The little round cover on the mirror pivot fits loosely on mine and rattles. I shoved a balled up piece of duct tape uner the one on mine till it gets warm enough to snap it off and put some silicone or something under it. My doors make a terrible wind noise and shake up top in a heavy sidewind. Peterbilt tried to tighten them up 3 times with no luck. No air leak just terrible noise. The wind might get in in that panel in front of the door so I am going to try to put some foam in there. The noise is worse than any Freightliner I have ever driven. Really disappointed in this truck because of this.
