Leasing is a business, and that entails risk - both success and failure. Not everyone is cut out to be a successful lease operator, and you have to look hard at what the downside will be. Three children and from the tone of your posts, your husband is looking at this because of financial pressure. He needs to stay on the company side. I'd suggest that leasing is a really bad idea for you guys and your situation.
Not all repairs. We have a 3-year "drivetrain" warranty which covers everything that makes the tractor go. I lost a turbo a year ago, and it only cost me $130 in shop supplies including a tow. Consumables - tires, oil, fuel - and yes the tax man, not to mention your salary are expenses you are expected to cover out of your gross income.
All right! I'm friggin' rich! How about that!!! (I'll have to let my accountant know about that so he can stack the riches up even higher! Maybe I ought to go vacation with Mitt in the Hamptons!!)
Hmm... someone doesn't know how this works.
Turnover. The numbers of first year drivers who quit is staggering - and many other reasons that someone with your outlook would prefer to overlook.
Trucks are like every other mechanical beast we've invented that require maintenance. If you don't keep up with it, it breaks down. If you're going to lease successfully you have to have a plan for that. And exactly how would you know about other drivers "qualcomm issues?" You don't even have access to that kind of information, so this is just more of your negative Bravo Sierra. Yes I do have access to qualcomm maint issues and so can anyone that is interested in leasing a used truck. They don't hide the facts, isn't that wonderfull. So if anyone is interested in a used truck ask for the maint records and you should find an interesting read if they had any issues with their truck.... And yes you will see qualcomm messages in those records that pertain to maint issues.... I may sound negative but I tell it like it is.

Why is it that I hear this from so many lease drivers at Prime? Talk about brain washed! Telling me that I cant know its a bad lease until Ive signed on the dotted line is moronic. Thats like suggesting I cant know a car loan at 26% is a bad deal until I sign. Duh! Ive seen the lease costs via a friendly recruiter who thought she had me sold and messed up by telling me all the costs. If you are running solo then you will make less than a company driver,thats the bottom line. A fixed cost averaging over $1k every week is ridiculous. I thought about goin flats with Prime but not after hearing the numbers.
