Glad to hear things are going good for you Hindsy. It is nice to sleep in your own bed, and not a truck every night. I love the old truck that I drive, it is great. It runs really well and can pass almost anything on the road. I am also loving the mix of stuff that I am getting to do. When I was hired it was to haul paper to two customers in PA. Now I do paper, and some flatbed work too. The people that I work for are great, it is a family run business, and they treat the drivers just like part of the family. My wife even stops in and chats with the owners wife from time to time.

Anyways, for all of you out there who are going crazy with big brother riding along with you in the big red truck, take heart. There is life after Roehl. Just put in your year, keep your nose clean and do a good job. Then look for that job close to home. They are out there, you might need to flip a few rocks and dig a bit to find them, but they are there. For you guys who love Roehl and have been there for a long time, good for you. If you live somewhere on their freight lanes, or in central Wisconsin, it is a good company.

If your in PA and get passed by a red classic XL, it was probably me!!! Wave as I go by.

Well I finished my first week at the new job. Went pretty well, 1400 miles in 3 days of work and home 2/3 nights. One I could have been home but I slept in truck I was too tired. We run a lot of the same places, our main haul is pretty light. Back haul is whatever they can set up or a dead head. Finished about 1730 yesterday. Home until Monday morning. Start my day, anytime I want. Probably roll out by 0600. No Quallcomm, no elog. ;) so far so good. Oh and the thing that's really weird? Passing other trucks on the highway. lol All day long. :)

I'm on my way to Maryland and Jersey for a 3 stopper....shouldn't be too bad......my only concern is how long C&S is going to hold me up.....cause if I can get in and out and on my way to my 2nd stop I should have enough time left to make it to my last to camp out for the night.....

I am currently sitting in Indiana.....

If you cannot find work save up the money you make from roehl and put it towards a semi truck. Thats what I did and I havent thought twice about it. Home every night and haul 100 air miles from the twin cities. Also being a o/o you take off when you want and refuse any loads you want. We have a extremely huge amount of intermodal here so thats what I got into. Ive been doing it for 15 months and ill probably will do it till the day I retire. Best decision ive ever made and roehl helped me get here.

I run mostly out to eastern PA, and then back to Buffalo NY. Then repeat... We do run into Ohio and Indiana to. A couple of weeks ago I took a flatbed load to North Carolina. The people I work for are flexable to if I need a day off for something too. I was done at 1500 on Friday, and I have to be in Buffalo at 0730 Monday. Then I will come back and pick up another paper load. We haul beer out of Pottsville, PA too, and that goes to the distributor right up the road from my house. If I don't sleep at home, I at least shower and eat at the house every day.

Intermodal work is great if you live in a good place for it. If you live near a rail yard it is good money for an O/O. You can make almost as much as an OTR Truck, but only spend half the money on fuel.
