TWIC card to offer extension

I live very near a harbor and do not have a TWIC card. I am not a felon or for no other any reasons why I can not get one except I have no cash to obtain one! Many jobs I apply for will not hire me because of non TWIC card. I can get a new car, with bad credit, but no TWIC card! I pitty the rest of the drivers in my spot and i know the teamsters would help us, but I have no cash for that either!!!

 

I heard that either next year or 2014 that having hazmat will be able to be used as a twic. The backround checks are the same. The hazmat lady at my company told us that.

 

Ask her where you can verify that little bit of information. The background checks are right now just being discounted, and I don't doubt that they wouldn't eventually be interchangable, but right now, that's not the case, so if she has some information or link for us to find out if what she's saying is true, it would be appreciated, otherwise, the best source for this information is still going to be at the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Website.

 

i wish they would just do away with the twic program all together; it's a huge waste of money
