nor sure if you guys are aware. but bk doesnt really make the majority of his money driving a truck. he is an exceptional piagow player. and very good at casino war, ive never seen him lose playing war.

Got to shipper last night and it is an open window to pickup between 8am-3pm. I had my alarm set for 8 and when I woke up the shipping guy is walking up to truck and there is a flatbed backed in one of their 2 doors. He says to me that it would be easier if I wait til this afternoon to pick up because the flatbed will be there most of the day and it will be too hard to get backed in there. I am backed in there but it sure was not very easy. I did not want to wait.

Lol..Well you make it however you can

I think it is you who plays war. That game requires no skill at all.

I am an LTL driver making the above average living you would expect with an LTL carrier. The rub is, that I am completely burned out! I've been following this thread for sometime, and am begining to believe that this could well be my future.
I live in Wichita, KS., so no question I'm located well to get the hometime etc.... that I'd need. Don't know if I'm ready to make a move just yet, but I can see it coming.
Any info or advice you guys would have for me would be most welcome. -
Is the LTL gig a local job? May be hard to give up, but ACT is a good company and you are in a good place to see the house quite a bit. A lot of us on here choose to stay out longer say a month or more, but that is a choice I and others here make, it's not a requirement. You won't get 3000 miles a week working here on a consistent basis, but you do get it and then some on occasion. The average is more like 2400 miles and there will be weeks where you may get only 1700 miles, but it all averages out in the end. Like any company, most are happy here, a few are not for whatever reason, but thats anywhere you work lol. There will be others on this thread that will weigh in on this and are willing to be as helpful as possible. Personally I think you would be happy here, but giving up that LTL gig may be hard. I know exactly what you mean by being burned out by a job, most of us have at one point or another. If you do decide to come over..Welcome aboard!

Picked up yesterday in Dallas going to Augusta,Ga for tomorrow from 8am-3pm. Figured if it was an open window tomorrow from those times it would work to deliver today also. Then I blew a trailer tire which is now fixed. Won't make it by 3pm now. Guess they will get it tomorrow after all.

If you are running LTL you are probably home every day or every other day at least. Why would you give that up and go work somewhere where you would get home maybe once a week and make less money than you are now? You will be on elogs here too. My honest opinion is if I were you I would stay where you are. You did not expect that answer from me did you?
I guess I would recommend ACT to someone who is an over the road driver at some cookie cutter company that is like all the others but to somebody in your position I would not. Maybe if you lose that job then yes I would recommend this job but I think you are dumb to quit it to come here.Last edited: Jul 18, 2012
