That's what I just did this morning. Another fleet manager was there so I told him I took another job. His attitude changed right away, he explained that he (the other fleet manager) didn't know that they had a way around that. He told me that I could park my truck in Elwood but I would still run as if I'm a Chicago driver. He said I would bring an empty up every morning, work around Chicago , then take a load down to Elwood to finish my day.. Again I don't want to sound like I'm talking crap against Schneider.. They honestly seem like a decent company to work for, it's just that there intermodal side doesn't have it all together. I told him I'd let him know Wednesday what my decision was, so we will see.

Ok, talk about drama today. I was a pod driver (6 on/ 3 off), and spent my last two weeks as one in a weezed Century. Now I'm suppose to service a dedicated customer and run my own, unshared rig. Dropped it off in Carlisle on Thurday, got a ride home then went out to pick-up and clean my new assigned rig from Fairless Hills drop yard. The interior was covered in sticky crap from stem to stern, smelled faintly of pee, had no working a/c, leaked air upon shutdown rapidly, no functioning speedo and a busted qualcomm. Wonderful. I left it at the drop yard and arranged to exchange it in Carlisle for something less nasty on Monday. Was given keys to a truck with no EZpass, told to foot the toll bill (insane!), and upon opening the door to that ten wheeled tomb, I was knocked on my arse by the over whelming smell of baked stoggies, aka cigars wretch. Didn't even bother to pretrip it because it was every but as gross as the one I shuttled there for exchange. From there, they decided to Try and repair the nasty thing I dropped off and gave me a loner for the time being, so who ever is on vacation and has their newer Columbia parked at Carlisle, I'll keep her clean. At this point, I don't even care that I'm being set up in 3/4 of a millon mile trucks. I just want something not broken and skeezed inside.

Sound like they need to start some kind of post trip turnover inspection thing that each driver would have to do when they leave a truck to turn it over to somebody else. Make them clean it up, vacum it, etc, and sign a sheet saying they cleaned it up before turning it over to somebody else. And give them penalty points if they leave a truck dirty and nasty full of piss bottles and skeet on the ceiling and everywhere lol

I've done this for 10 years and I have NEVER had too pee in a bottle... I've had to go real bad but never so bad that I'd bring myself to pee in a bottle. Nasty.

My idle is a little over 10%. I try to start my days at 0800-0900 and usually stop after sundown. That way I don't have to idle to stay cool as usually its cooled down enough to be comfortable.
