Anyone have any advice or experienced a cruise control issue where it works sometime and not other times. The tractor is a 2004 Columbia.
Cruise control works sporadically.

Id say about half the tractors my company has (Volvos, Freightliners, Internationals and Sterlings) the cruise either doesnt work, or only works sometimes. I dont know why its such a common problem in big trucks. Sometimes you can mess with them...Tap the clutch, turn the cruise off then back on etc...
mjfmjf Thanks this. -
usually weak clutch ore brake pedal springs, ore bad switches

I had that problem last night. Running I-5 level ground, and cruise would work for 3 minutes, then disengage, I would push resume button on the shifter, and poof, working again, then 6 minutes later, it stops, hit button, works again for 50 miles. when i stopped to check the tires, nothing! So I am going to check the clutch micro switch and go from there.

had that issue on my Cascadia I drove.
Had to quickly tap the brake to get it to work most of the time. -
Awesome, I drive a 2006 and it would do the same thing but it would work after about 6 hours into it, then all of a sudden it stopped working all together. It was in the shop and hopefully it was fixed.

make sure all your pedals are returning completely and freely so the switchs all close I.E. clean the floor. yu don't want a $100 bill from a shop to dig that bottle cap out from under the brake pedal!

Um....the brake pedal is hung from above, not on the floor. -
trouble could be the wiring harness
-
clutch switch...mine did that
