what's the deal with the temp DM's this past week, anyways? Mine was GREAT! But, flying had one too? Was it a chick named Patty? That's who I had, she's training for night dispatch. Well, guess I'm gonna roll around 3-4 in the am and get to Louisville around 12-1 pm for my drop...figured I had 489 miles to run which will take between 9 hours, considering I hafta crawl up Fancy Gap with a little over 43,000 in the box. I'm amazing myself each day with the tandems. Been having close to perfect weighs lately when I slide my tandems. This load is paper rolls....got 32300 on Drives and around 33000 on the trailer just by eyesight....when I weighed at shipper couldn't believe how close it was! Went to 5th hole back was gonna put it at 6th but figured I'd weigh and just see what scale says....after seeing those numbers figured I'm legal and ready to roll! lol

you didn't pick that load up in roanoke rapids did you? if you ever pick up there don't trust those scales at that paper lot they're off and by alot....always use the pilot up at the 180 or double check at the yard before you roll off......
i'm getting ready to head on to the yard and roll about 1700....parking at the cons for an 8am appt so going on up and hopefully get something good enough in the morning to salvage a decent week by cutoff
didn't get patty.....had one of the older guys that does vacation coverage....he usually does a good job but was a little disappointed with the runs i got even though he was quick in getting them to me -
d amn you're good! lol yeah it was the Roanoke Rapids gig! Guess I'll reweigh in the wee morning hours tomorrow, after fueling and stuff! Well, off to sleep, BEFORE THE SON?!?!?!?! haha guess I gotta set an example, GO TO BED WHEN YOU NEED TO! haha everyone have a safe week!

was pretty sure it was roanoke rapids....it's the only other paper lot i know of has onsite scales other than philly and charleston.....and pretty sure you weren't in philly or you'd have said something about the approach into that place lol last time i was there at roanoke rapids it weighted light 800lbs on both ends when i doublechecked at the pilot
my whole plan for the day got shot to ####.....dropped the trailer friday due a pm.....5 months out of pm......and at least one bad tire....came in today ready to roll it hadn't been touched after 2 days....and now the tire flopping on the rim flat......
nobody in the trailer shop.....guy that came in on day shift left after 3 hours and night shift guy didn't show up.......tried to just drop it and get something else......poor planning (or lack of) on their part doesn't constitue an emergency on mine.....dispatch just called down to the tractor shop and had the one guy working in there to go over and change tires on my trailer and another one waiting in line.....he wasn't too happy about it and getting in no hurry i can't blame him.......so, should have left at 1700 and still sitting here at 1900 and he's just getting started......
was going to just go home when he's done and run up in time to get there but in the end decided just going to run on up there anyway soon as he's done and i guess just sit there until i get my hours back after getting unloaded in the morning.......but not what i had planned and not the way to start the week for sure......
but better to go ahead and be out there with full hours instead of getting there and only having 5Last edited: Jul 16, 2012

Well I double checked that weight this morning...man I was more on than I thought! 33000 on drives and 32880 on trailer....can't get any more perfect than that! lol Well, other than all the dang weight stations pulling me in and then wanting to scale me! lol Oh well, I knew I was legal, guess they hadn't seen anything that close all night long! I did get to the yard at around 0230 and was out and running by 0315! I LOVE RUNNING EARLY IN THE MORNING....guess I should change my name to dinkymorningbirddoo? haha Well, got close to 2500 for this friday's check, happy with that and I gotta 700 run to do tomorrow..picked up today and finish the last 600 tomorrow for an open delivery at Lowe's in Valdosta tomorrow...guess I'll stay at the terminal! haha btw, do they have showers there or no? Would LOVE to shower so I don't smell like total a ss around our customers, man, have you smelled some of our other fellow truckers(not our company, but other drivers in general)...WOW kinda makes me skip a meal for about an hour or so, just to get that smell outta my hairy nose! lol

oh yeah and speaking of the Philly paper place...been there and DON'T EVER WANNA GO BACK! lmao Had to do the SAME EXACT THING YOU DID when I left! Made my right turn and nobody would back up so I just threw my hands up and pulled brakes....Coming and going from that place is UTTERLY STUPID!!!!! lol But....was a fun challenge and I'm all about those!

yeah getting in and out of that place is close quarters combat for sure....but if you followed the directions like we were supposed to and made the left at the light over the bridge, then you missed the REAL fun lol
i rolled up there and got to the light to make the left and saw that big sign that said "trucks no left turn" and said wtf? thought maybe i missed a line writing the directions down or missed something and decided on the fly to follow the traffic controls and not make the left and.....well, let's just say those directions said make that left for a reason.
thought about that one a lot. why put a no left sign there when it's the ONLY way into the place? trust me, it's the only way in. you don't want to go straight and find out what's back in there in a car, much less a truck. i got intimately ( and immediately ) aquainted with the residential area and 9% grade just beyond that light. probably the most nerve racking experience i've ever had......but i kept my cool took it slowly and finally figured my way out of there and how to get back where i was supposed to be. and at 1700 in the afternoon no less. after that, i can handle just about anything that comes up lol......
can tell my dm is back and i'm glad.....694 right out of the gate this morning.....up to marcy, ny with 45k of dog food.....good setup for a long beer run back out of there that's usually what i get when i'm that close to baldwinsville....i hope so i like those they're always good money runs.....so late when i got loaded didn't get as far as i wanted though only made it about halfway and figured i'd better go on and park at the fuel stop since there were a couple of spots left and not much else for a good little ways and it's already 2100
waiting in line to scan my trips and a USX guy in front of me.......scan, stand there and look at it, rescan, stand there and look at it, rescan, stand there and look at it......asked if he was having problems and he said he can't figure out why it isn't printing the confirmation......told him he had to scroll through the pages to complete the transaction and he just looked at me with this blank stare like my biggest dog gets sometimes lol.....sometimes i wish that dog could talk just for one day so i could have a conversation with him just to see what goes on in that mind of his......anyway, had him rescan them again and then showed him how to complete the transaction and print the confirmation......said he was just finished on his first solo trip and his trainer never had showed him how to, just told him how and he was writing it down as the trainer tried to tell him over the phone......said the trainer always went in and did it while he pumped the fuel and he had never actually done it......made me glad all over again we have the trainers we do.....i congratulated him on getting his first solo in and he bought me a coffee for doing what his trainer should have.
good start to the week so far...... -
Sounds like we have a future trainer on our hands there! lol I sure as h ell couldn't do it....just MHO I think i would have more fun slitting my wrists with a butter knife than just sit in the passenger seat all day! LMAO Well, I am a VERY hyper dude and I do know how to teach, I am patient but just can't sit there for hours upon end before I do anything. Well, DM got me a nice 700 to start off next weeks paycheck....if they keep me running like this looks like a box of doughnuts are going their way come Monday! Boy would they be surprised! lol Now sitting at Valdosta taking my break...gotta run across the road in the am for a pick up to MS....haven't been down I-10 from Florida to MS since my USA days....so it'll be a nice reminder and drive. Went down the Kentucky Bourbon Trail yesterday...that was neat. It's an Alcoholics roadway, for sure, lol....I'm just a beeraholic when I'm at home couldn't ever hold ANY liquor down! Gotta say, this yard is soooooooo dead I feel like I'm being abandoned here. lol plus no s hitter when I wake up....if it gets bad I'll run like h ell across the street and use the facilities, I guess....better yet I can just ask them on ch 37. I'm sure they won't mind or else I'll blow it off between trailers! haha Just kidding. Guess it'll be the woods and it's a good thing I have a couple rolls of paper towels! lol Well everyone have safe travels this week and flying, I'm sure you gotta facebook account, pm me your name and I'll add ya!

oh yeah....as far as that left turn in philly...I took it....going straight looked pretty scary to me....guess I was right! lol But leaving that place and taking a right onto the bridge is the dumbest d amn turn this side of the mississippi! haha Wish I could get routed out to Missouri....smokes are CHEAP in that state carton on Pall Mall are, with tax, 28.94...carton of Camels are, with tax 31.78!
