I did a year at Valley. They're fine for a starting company, but don't bother if you're experienced and looking for a new job. First off, a lot of the time, they just won't take experienced drivers. If you're fresh out of school, go for it, it's not a bad experience. Just be prepared to run paper logs and fudge the books unless you want to get on dispatch's bad side and get bad loads for a few weeks. If you're okay with waiting for loads all day and driving all night, you can make a lot of money. If you can drive for 18-20 hours, sleep for 4 and get moving again (and make your log book look pretty), they'll love you. They do get you home weekends, but a lot of the time, that means loading up 300-400 miles from home on Friday afternoon and getting back to Ashland at 2am Saturday, then having to leave on Sunday night to get unloaded on Monday morning.
There's a lot they won't tell you and if you have specific questions, just ask. If you're starting new, I wouldn't stay with them for more than the year (or maybe two) you need to move on to a better company.sw6g Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info triad. I have read that they like the drivers to run illegal.
