Starting a new career with USX

I dont mind manual labor but would really love to see more of our great country. It sounds like it is something I will have to decide on when it comes time. Love reading your posts and hope I can meet all of you one day! By reading the posts here and other USX forums on the truckers report, it seem like I know you already! I hope to and will strive to have an attitude like yours and see how far my new career can take me! Cant wait! Thanks again!

Not sure how much of the country you really think you will be seeing as you will be in seeing it thru the windshield of the truck? With USX you are on the go on the go on the go, or waiting for them to give you a load, this is what they call trucking. They are not going to allow you to bob-tail and go sight seeing with their truck and their fuel.

No disrespect intended here, just telling you the real deal.

 

I am calling BS on this HD. I see the most beautiful sights. Rolling through Southern Utah yesterday was a good reminder of how good life is and that there is a God. Driving down the 101 along the coast of California, I-70 Across the Rockies, driving across Pennsylvania or Vermont or Montana or Alabama...... Absolutely gorgeous and all different. Not even counting the sunrises and sunsets. I have a pretty amazing view from my front porch/office.
We also take home time all over the country. Not to mention little breaks. Had a great time in Memphis on Beale Street last week when we had 24 hours between loads. This life is what you make it.
I also have met a bunch of drivers who had never been out of their region until they started to drive. Pretty eye opening experience the first time you roll into Los Angeles.

 

Sorry to say Craig, but you seem to give a lot of people false hope. Most them are trying to do what they can to pay the bills in order to support their families. They do not have the money to pay for rental cars here and there to go where ever they want to. Or do they know about the fancy restaurants that you do either.

 

I started this job with $5 in my pocket and my wife had been unemployed for two years. Your short experience in trucking is not typical, period. Most drivers last more than five weeks. Oh, and Yelp is so hard to use to find a place to eat.

 

I agree. If you can't see the beauty in the country driving thn your either in the bunk sleeping or ray Charles's twin. Yeah we don't just get to stop whenever we feel like it but there's alot of times you can wind up someplace and have alot of time to kill before getting to a shipper or receiver or do a 34hr reset. And like Craig said...what's so hard with using yelp or hell even my rand McNally will find all sorts of restaurants. And my iPhone picks up the slack after that finding stuff to eat. I think HD is another steering wheel holder with his blinders on to what's going on around him....

 

I've only been driving for two weeks but have been many places
in two weeks that I never would have paid the gas to go see on my own.
The beautiful back roads of Virginia and upstate NY. The small towns

more. Loving it!

 

Well I was going to stay away form this but sense you opened the door, must be you failed at all 3 of your own businesses if you only had 5 bucks in your pocket when you went to USX. And get it straight, I was with them for 2 months. I did not go to USX with 5 bucks in my pocket, I went there with a lot more then that. I do not and will not work for a company that treats their employees like dirt. USX loves and feeds on people in need, and they take right control over those people. Do I need to remind you of the major high turn over rate of people at USX???

Come on Craig, why dont you share with everyone what you get for a bonus from USX for all of the positive PR you give them and how much smoke you blow up peoples back side???

 

Wow. two whole months. You should really be giving career advice....oh, wait.

At least I am employed. I did get a bonus once for an experienced team that came to USX from my recommendation. It was pretty sweet. As I stated before. this life is what you make it. I find it no surprise that it sucked for you. Garbage in, garbage out.

 

You sound like your jealous to me . Do you run solo ??


Have you read their blog,They run as a H/W TEAM. ?? it isn't all wine and roses... just sayin.. Like craig has said many times and I believe it .. Its all about your Attitude and what you make of it .. Truck driving and the lifestyle isn't for everyone ... its sounds like you might be one of those...Just an observation ..
