Found tracking device in my truck

It doesn't look like that has an interrupt built in. Trace the wires back and look for other components tied into it.

 

I think they have to tell you that they have that in there. Its usually hooked up to the ignition and if you dont pay they log in on a computer and cut it off and you cant start the vehicle but as long as you dont turn it off they cant disable it either. its pretty easy to just cut it off. We had bought a car a long time ago from a buy here pay here dealer and they had us sign a paper saying we knew it was in there and what would happen if we didnt pay etc.. but we payed the car off took the guy 2 mins to cut the wires and that was it.

 

Pull it out and stick it under someone else's trailer! Let em' track that!

 

I would read the contract first.
What if the truck gets stolen and the "tracker" doesn't work.
Is there a chance you might get into trouble if you had removed it?
Legally it is their truck.

ps i would find it ennoying to find that in my truck,so i can understand that you want it gone.

 

again, let me ask why a device like this bothers some people so much? i am not being a smart-a , i am truly curious. it is activated only if they need to find the truck if ya havent paid. it is used to constantly track you. if you are making payments and never get behind, why is it a problem or is that the problem?

Well for those that understand the devious mind, there's being able to track their violations of HOS and proving the logbooks to be lies.

Let's face it, old trucks aren't making a comeback because of their fuel efficiency. They're making a comeback because owners that want to circumvent the HOS want to remove any computer device/system from their vehicle that could be used to prove their logs false. Every electronic/computer device has a GPS aspect..especially computer controlled fuel injection, ABS (this is what they'll have a hard time getting rid of) etc. Some owners are willing to sacrifice fuel efficiency gains to go to a mechanically run engine to avoid the tracking aspects of computerized engines.

I've even met some that won't use a cell phone..because that can be tracked. These guys aren't rubes either, they understand the technology... but this is the reason that being "tracked" bothers some of these drivers. EOBR's have technically been in every truck since the first electonic fuel injection system so stay legal, pay your note and don't sweat it until you've paid it off.

 

the device is turned on only when the truck needs to be located for lack of payment. if you arent behind it never tracks u, how is that a blind sheep?

how about this, say you finnanced a truck for someone you had only met when he walked thru the door and asked for financing, would you want a way to find the truck if he didnt pay.

i got to tell ya , i have heard so many stories of the bank did this and the bank did that, and then ya here and i was only 3 months behind.

nobody but nobody will get a truck after 5 days if the customer has made his payments even close to on time , they dont make money taking trucks back.


local bank at home asked to go to kentucky from ga to pick up a truck for them. whn w found the truck it was stripped of motor transmission , rears , tanks, etc it was basically a cab and a bare chassis left, the bank said leave it. they got took for 20,000 bucks. wonder if now in the day of gps they use them?? yep and you cant blame them. i also had a driver abandon one of my trucks in nc, couldnt find it anywhere , best we find was the guy had family near bills truck stop in nc. showed a pic of the truck and a few weeks later one of the workers said they spotted it about 10 miles away parked behind a abandoned mobile home, went to get it and jumped it off, nothing wrong. thankfully, after having reported stolen etc it took 4 months to find the truck.

there is a REASON banks and others use these devices. if i get the second truck again, you can bet it will be tracked for location

 

and think about the driver from nj who died in december at the wilco in troutman ,nc ans wasnt found til april in the same spot where he died.
