These are some good posts guys. Courtesy is key but will only get you so far. I've been pretty lucky but I do understand how difficult it can be for us to have to put up with the bs day in and day out!!

    get used to it.

thanks to csa and the economy. we no longer have to worry about just the scales. and yes, cops are trained to look at logs. probably not through the academy either.

and you don't need to print up your current day from the comuter. they just want to see your screen. they know it's not gonna be printed out when the day OR shift isns't done yet.

if driving through the night from one day to the next day. they don't expect you to stop just becuase it's midnight and you need to print the day out.

i've never had my logs scrutinized. it's basically just to look at my hours.

and yeah, your office or home or whatever you want to call it isn't yours. unless your an o/o. and no they don't need to go through the company to look at there property. becuase the company EXPECTS you to follow the rules. and do whatever the cop asks you.

you know,i am of the thought that this dot cop was the exception to the norm.he was attempting to shake you up or whatever and you, being a #### stickler ( i recognize!),stunned him w/your available info.i am betting that he had access to your excellent csa score, hence the time it took for him to tell you to pull around back, and was trying to gleen whatever just because he was in that mood to do so.he wanted to mess your score up perhaps OR possibly keep it intact.you'll never know.
    It happens.

shake it off,you were close to pulling over as it was for your 10,and cease allowing him into your head.he knows what he was doing and is well aware of his potential impact on you and most drivers.Personally,i'd try for another load going over that scale at about the same time and try to catch him working.park around back and ask him for an inspection.he may recall you and be a completely different person.either way you will rid yourself of how he bothers you i am thinking simply from initiating a second meeting.

i've allowed several to enter my head over the years and try my best to hit the scales they work to this day.an example is manchester,tn westbound.i was intimidated there during my very early days of driving and lived in fear of that particular scale forever.anxiety took over even knowing i had to go over them.i used to go way out of the way to NOT go across them.it hit me one day that i was allowing those at that scale to stay in my head.

manchester,tn. wb scales now seem to be the most relaxed and professional set of scales in tn imho, and they probably wonder why in the hell that i make sure the officer that is present, sees me waving and being friendly.overly so probably but i wave and blink my lights every time i ease over them.

    Hanadarko Thanks this.

Had a Level 1 the other day, Officer asked to see my Fire Ex. it is just inside my door, so I opened it for him to inspect. No violation, He had me leave my door open so he could watch my Trailer air supply release at the proper time and had me remove my Glad hand. No Violation, he used his creeper and went from front to back while yelling to me to push, release etc on Breaks Lights etc. No violations. He asked to see my Log book and Bill of Lading. No violations, We chatted about paint ball, crime, people that we both knew, but Not the Kitchen sink. When done, he said. That was easy and put two nice Orange stickers on my Truck and Trailer. Now everyone is leaving me alone.

Wiseguy the same happened to me in NY, he gave me 2 stupid violations for my liscense plate being worn out and no reflective tape on my mudflaps....Still got the sticker though.

If I wouldve been hanadarko I wouldve probably spent the night in jail, my nice guy attitude doesnt go real far when people are being peices of crap.

if the guy made you turn around and go back to the truck you just passed. wouldn't that mean you had to cross the scales twice within 10 hours???

i would went down the road to whatever your intended stop was in the first place.

Hott Rodd and MNdriver Thank this.

I was thinking that too, but not knowing if he was going to send a car to see what became of me..I figured I would just play it safe
and do as he said. Oddly, when I DID get to the truck stop, it was jammed of course...so I kept going (in the wrong direction) until I found a rest area that had space (30miles away).

When I ran past this same scale in the AM, I was told to pull in but when I got onto the scale, the guy was side tracked doing something else and I didnt even have to come to a complete stop. Naturally it wasnt the same exact dude.

Sorry but they are not paying for my fuel so there is no way I'm back tracking. I would have gone on my way or just spent my 10 there at the scale. I run my logs on my laptop also and have only had them ask for the last 7 days haven't even had one look at my current day when I tell them its on my lap top.
