Criminal Record as a minor

Does anybody know if your criminal record as a minor matters to any companies? I've always been told that when you turn 18 your minor record is sealed and cannot be accessed, but I'm not so sure this is true. I got in trouble only one time when I was 15. Was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Got one year probation, but only did 3 months because of good character.

I keep hearing these companies dig and dig and find out everything about you. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or do they even worry about things you did as a kid? If they do, is it something I should be straight-forward about, or is it something they legally can't access?

Thanks for the replies fellas. Incase y'all can develop an opinion and further help me by me telling the story:

I was 15 years old and went to a party on a weekend. Got pretty drunk, ended up falling asleep (passing out I guess) on the way home in my designated driver's car. He decides on the way home he wanted to break into a fire truck that was parked outside a firestation because there were elections being held the next day, and around here in my rural parish, you go to the firestation to vote.

Anyway, he stole a flashlight, chainsaw....and some other crap. Not only did it make me mad because he did it without consideration of me, but it ticked me off because I mean...come on. A Firetruck!!! Give me a break. How shameful. All the while I was passed smooth out and didn't even know it had happened til the police called my house the next day. My DD even told the police I had nothing to do with it, but as I said, wrong place at the wrong time. I just took a plea bargain since they were still charging me. The charge was felony theft over $500. I was told by the D/A that my record would be sealed when I turned 18. Don't know if it was or not.

I didn't mind the punishment as I deserved it. It wasn't bad. I did some community service at an after school program for kids. I would clean mostly. Take out trash, mop, etc. Everyone in charge of the program said they could tell I was a good kid, and they marked my hours up because they said I don't belong there. A bit later on, my PO put in a word to let me off for good character.

Regardless of whether I was involved in the crime or not, it was still stupid because I knew this guy was no good. Not to mention at 15 I shouldn't have been out drinking anyway. But it's all done now. Hadn't been in trouble before, and haven't been in trouble since. Hell, I don't even drink anymore being on call 24 hrs running a towing company. As a matter of fact, I'm on good terms with all my local, parish, and state police officers as I work with them daily. I'm more or less their go-to guy.

Well because I shouldn't have been running around with that guy
and I shouldn't have been out drinking. Besides, after it was all said and done, I didn't suffer much from my punishment, as it was very weak and short-lived. I did learn my lesson though, and if I could go back, I don't think I'd change anything - unless it comes back to haunt me of course. Which now I don't think it will.
