Since you bring up the importance of scales. The weight station off I-70 when you first enter Colorado westbound. The blond who works night shift. Is she hot or what?![]()
How come NO ONE talks about the importance of weight scales?

so there you go you "better than the old timers" noobs. i have been criticized on here by the noobs making the declarations that if you run legal, you don't have to worry about the law, bears, scales, speeding tickets, etc. Klatu made my point and it was to a new driver.get on that CB and give reports, ask for reports, and basically let other drivers know what is going on.
this thread proves that advising others what is happening,or not happening, pertains to all of us out here.I'm sorry that the OP had to learn about scales in the manner that he did.it happened to me @knoxsville EB decades ago and i did not attend a truck driving school.the OP and i had to learn on our own but we are now both enlightened.
regardless of how legal that you think you are running, and how smug you are regarding NOT giving bear/scale reports for whatever reason(those that preach"if you run legal, you ain't got nothing to worry about" mentality),a ticket awaits you when you least expect it.drive long enough and you will get one.you may be able to postpone that ticket by simply giving/getting bear and scale reports, traffic reports, truck on the shoulder reports, etc.we all need to COMMUNICATE out here and push aside the notion that only outlaws worry about what is going on at the scales or that only outlaws worry about where the bear is set up.that bear could have portable scales waiting on you-Ranger70 Thanks this. -
I agree 100%, I think all of us have had to learn the hard way a time or two. That is called gaining experience. I was in the construction trades for almost 20 years before coming over to trucking, all on the job training, no schooling so I get, where some of you old school guys are coming from. Too many sheepwith blinders on these days, or maybe they are just to scared to ask for help. Never be afraid to ask for help, you may get some crap, but in the end I have never had another driver not help me out .airforcetoo and Giggles the Original Thank this.

Was hauling paper rolls; they got it straight, thankfully
Anti-socialism sometimes is just meant as a protection... I understand it, cause a lot of us newbies are scared out of our minds out here ... I know I was when I first got into the industry ... it's like entering a whole different reality. Like you'll most likely see me with a smile, no matter how bad my days going (most of the time anyways) so to enter a world of frowning truck drivers it is kinda hard and isn't exactly inviting, I feel like I'm back in the streets of Manhattan sometimes ... so most of us won't understand it till we get some hard months in, but I will agree with you that if you ask we help; I've never been turned down on advice to anything out here and I've certainly asked a bunch! -
Ive done the same exact thing. First time I went there I had half a fuel load. Had to wait til I passed the last scale and then fuel the truck. Hate GP and I-T.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

I hear ya. From now on I stop and top off fuel before every customer no matter what if I have less than 3/4 of a tank.

Just cause we're frowning doesn't mean we're frowning at you. We all have our own defense mechanisms.airforcetoo Thanks this.

I always get fuel now too. I WONT make that mistake again.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

My buddy just texted me, said he picked up from a gp in Florida, I won't say which, but he's at 79.3k gross with 1/4 fuel. He said he knows he made the mistake and tried telling the shipper he still has to get fuel but they still loaded him with as much as they could.
