I learned on a 10 speed. Are most trucks on the road 10 speed or more?

depends on the company. our heavy haul trucks are 13's while the rest of the fleet is either 10 speed or a few autos here and there.

Most fleets opt for 9 speeds and 10 speeds. Some of the 9 speeds are the "convertible" transmission that with a few parts added at resale time will make it into a 13 speed.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

10 speeds at my company although almost everyone shifts them like they were 8, skipping 1st and 6th. Have driven a 13 speed also, not much different, just have the splitter.

It will vary from one company to another, and there are several companies where it varies from truck to truck.
