I do warm things up as much as possible, I'm in a " continuous operation " which is to say just that I slipseat my truck and we run it about 18 hrs a day. So my truck is rarely cold. I can have a rough almost miss all day long in the below freezing temps. It wont go away once the truck is warmed up if the ambient temps are freezing and I'm running winter fuel. Spring though late fall she runs great.

I wonder if Fatherof5 could be describing the same thing ?.. If it's only $600 to swap fresh VVA's in that may be something I'd consider.

Hey All, truck is in the shop today and I'm waiting on diagnosis. Early speculation from tech is there's turbo issues and that's creating the high egt's. After some trustworthy advice on the ACERT delete (thanks MR Haney) and a lil' research I'm gonna leave the VVA's alone. I didn't understand the true purpose of the system, if its working properly it should increase efficiency (you were right bob1234)thanks for the replies, I'll post results in a few days.

Hey there i got a load on my wagon 45000lbs of crates on a fltbed watching egts nrmal cruzing 65mph at 1300-1350 rpm egts stay at650-700 pulling a hill they go up to 800 its very hot and humid today they have droped about 200deg but dont know if the vva did it or the wiring fix to the diverter valve turbo psi max is 52psi so assuming turbos are fine and runs very nice and smooth feels much more responsive

Hi bob1234, sounds like that tune up sure helped. I had a similar problem with the water diverter harness last year except mine melted through and gave a check engine light. So I'm thinking if yours was only looking rough without throwing any codes the drop in egt's can be attributed to the VVA's and rack being properly set. I'm hoping that's the case because I spoke with the tech today about mine and the turbos and CAC checked out OK. Next step is run rack and service the VVA's. Let me know if your mileage is any better, Thanx

Hey all, just got the truck back yesterday afternoon and took it straight to the ethanol plant to load 'er up. Cruising empty the egt's stayed in the 700 range once loaded I could still get over 1000 but with the new tune in the ecm there wasn't any grades around here that would work it long enough to keep it that hot. Soon as you get out of the throttle it cools right down. This morning leaving the house loaded it still seemed as if the turbos would surge if ya got into it too hard, thinkin maybe I'm losing drive pressure between the manifold joints??? Who knows gettin sick of thinkin about it. Hope this may have helped someone else. Be safe & God bless

Hey Bob, so far so good. My mileage went from 5.8 avg to 6.45 on the last fill up. Still having issues when the boost gets over 50psi but I can live with that, what has really blown me away though is what this engine is capable of. CAT isn't giving us anywhere near the power they could. Now its kinda like driving around with half a load all the time, just step on it and go. Big fun, if ya can swing it I'd recommend it for the fun factor alone.

I sure understand that, mine has 790,XXX and it would be nice to get a few more years out of it. Hey Bob, livin in Canada, can't you guys buy trucks up there without DPF's and urea?
