I am a 45 year old guy who's made a few mistakes as a misguided youngster. I broke the law in 1994 by getting involved with a lolita, and have been paying dearly for it ever since. I've straightened my life out, been rehabilitated this time, and I have decided I want to be a trucker, since driving is my greatest skill. After graduating from a 3 week training school, I got my CDL from TDI in 2007, but I couldn't find a company willing to give me a break. I settled for a temporary gig in a welding shop and did some light flatbed work with a straight truck hauling steel locally. That job was brief as the company outsourced the position; been out of work ever since.
Fortunately, the wife supports me, and it makes me feel emasculated. As the economy declines, I know I need to find a job ASAP, but many companys today still aren't willing to consider my situation. I have my Class-A CDL and a new 649-F Medical Certificate, no OTR experience, clean MVR, clean DAC, and a strong desire to become a trucker. Oh and I don't smoke, drink or take drugs either. So, am I just kidding myself, or is there hope for me yet. I am a hard worker, and willing to do anything neccessary for the opportunity to live the dream. Everyone says to keep trying, and I am. But it's so tough not knowing where to turn when so many doors are slammed in my face. I think its a terrible thing when a man is willing and able to work but can't find any, while so many other capable people collect welfare (etc.). All I want is one chance to prove I am a valuable asset. If you have any tips please email me at BGibbymeister@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
