bend your knees, grab the tarp with both hands, and lift with your legs pull the tarp into your chest belly area, put it on the catwalk, repeat until proper height has been acheived to place the tarp atop the trailer. If you can deadlift 80 lbs off the floor, you'll be fine.

your heartrate is checked after the step test. using a staircase in your house, step from floor up with one foot then up with the next foot then down with one foot and down with the other. A driver has to be able to at least lift the tarps off the ground to put them in the tarp box

Once I go TCD in a week or two, I may have a strap winder for sale. It's the kind that hangs on the rub rail. It's been worth the money I paid for it.

I hate those. They were all I knew before Maverick. Now I have at least two Maverick rollers in the truck in case I lose one. I wont go back to a rail roller.

be sure to tell whomever you sell it to, to clamp it onto the chain holding pocket of the headache rack when using it and not on the rubrail where it causes those nice little circular holes in the DOT reflective tape. Besides, if you store your rolled up straps in the side pocket of the tractor, attaching it to the headache rack actually places it just that much closer to the side box of the tractor

I have posted on here in the past that that first day when you had me do all of that backing in the gravel lot (especially the snaking back manuever) was very helpful. I encouraged a few of the newbies to have their trainers do the same with them. That should be one of the first things that trainers do with their students on the first day, because we who were coming straight out of CDL school have only had (very little) experience with box van tandem trailers- not these spreadaxles. Perhaps you could encourage that to become part of the first day with your trainer regiment that Maverick officially endorses in the Training Program. Just an idea...

While heading down I-35 W. Thurs. we stopped to do a load check. A Maverick truck passed us. It was a newer truck. It was flying. Got to 64 in W. VA and it was passing trucks left and right. It had 3 coils on the back. I have never seen a Maverick truck fly through those mountains loaded like he was. Never got a chance to see the number on the truck. Tarp job was awful. We finally had to stop for another load check. That driver never did. Since we had to go over a bit because of no place to stop we figured he had gone at least 200+ miles without stopping. Thought when we stopped at exit 77 for the night he might have been there. Nope. Really wish we could have seen the truck number. He was doing everything Maverick says NOT to do.
