Yep, I confirmed with Kristy today, I will be joining the Watkin/Shepard crew.
Will be based out of Modesto CA.

Quick update on my progress...
Just finished week 2 in school. Only 2 more weeks before I head to Montana!
Last week I took a 53ft box out on public streets for the 1st time, and I am simply LOVING it!
So I now have my DMV test set for Aug 10th.... and have no concerns about passing it..
I am not having any trouble with the shifting, I seam to have picked up on that fast.
But I hear WS has a specific type of shifting that they require?
Such as specific RPM's and such?
Can anyone provide more information on that?
I want to get some practice in before I head to orientation if possible..Last edited: Jul 29, 2012

I loved going to the modesto terminal back in the day. they had a taco truck that was parked accross the street that was good eats and easy on the wallet. Probably gone now tho..

Nope...still there! There's also the bowling alley a few blocks up the road that's I go to and grab a bite.

Word of advice since Modesto will be your home terminal....while on hometime take everything you value out of the truck, they were having a lot of breakins there.

what s this shifting you talk about. start in 4rth go to 10th. no need for a clutch just float.
walstib Thanks this. -
They go over shifting a bit, but its not written in stone. They only go over freightliner, for instance. (At least, thasts what they did with my group..) Its mainly just to go over the split, how it works, and how it changes depending on whether you're upshifting or downshifting on an incline or a decline. When you're in your truck, they'll want you to shift based on what works best with your truck!SpiritWolf and 2021DREAM Thank this.

Hey Spirit!
See you there! I'm in the same orientation. I live here in Missoula so I might be ble to provide some local knowledge for you when you arrive. Looking forward to it!
BeckerSpiritWolf Thanks this. -
You aren't kidding. Friend of mine had his broken in twice. Second time they took his permit book and a box of Kleenex. Had his truck broken in with his new company also... he just has horrible luck.
