How much (ballpark) should I figure on having to pay for the 2290 road use tax?

Discussion in 'Ask An Owner Operator' started by semicomputing, Jul 2, 2012.

  1. Figuring up expenses to subtract from revenue to estimate profit. How much should I estimate for the annual 2290 road use tax to cost? How much for liability/collision, I have a clean mvr with 18 years experience. Thanks.

the 2290 is a flat rate of 550 a year and based on most collision ins rates will be around 3 dollars a thousand , so about 96.00 a month for collision, 20.00 to 30.00 for bobtail a month

Location and carrier (who you are leased to) can have an impact on bob tail insurance. General range is 3-4% of value. Large carriers that offer it up can be hit and miss on how good the rates are. I have seen as low as 2% and as high as 5%.
