I called and asked progressive if my primary liability and cargo insurance would still be in force under this load and they said yes, and that I don't need supplemental. If I were leased on to a carrier then I would need other insurance, however.

Has always been this way. I haul AA&E for a living and have alot of training here. Your fireworks were 1.5 probably which is a table 2 item.
I used to haul different things for a ministry. It was stuff that was donated to the ministry so it was "Not for hire" I was told by the company I was leased to that the company signs had to be covered up and they are the ones who suggested adding a sign that says "Not for Hire" -
Really ? If you were stopped who was the truck registered to ? What proof of insurance would you show ? If you were still contracted to them you were for hire.
The carrier was just trying to be released from liability . -
aha... I suppose so o.o It's been over a year since I pulled explosives. My company does not pull explosives, poison gases, or radioactives. And class 7 is one of those classes I absolutely refuse to pull.

The truck was registered to me, it was my truck. I carried my own Non Trucking liability, as it was called back then and the insurance company said i would be covered.

O.K. There are always a lot of variables in these situations
