Wannabe with 17 year old felony and 6 year old misdemeanor Can i get a job doing this

    I would like to be an OTR truck driver but i have done a little research and found out it might be difficult getting a job doing this with a record like mine. I have the cash to pay my own way through a school but dont wanna wate it if i wont be able to get hired. I have a 17 yr old felony Burglary and fraud (same crime) Class D felony and a 6 yr old 1st degree assault/Criminal trespassing conviction. I never went to prison on the felony because it was my first conviction. I was on probation for 5 yrs and since the felony never got in any trouble till 6 yrs ago. The felony was me and a friend that broke into a store and stole lottery tickets and then cashed them. I was 19 and didnt realize what kind of damage i was doing to my future. Then 6 yrs ago i walked into my wifes apartment (we were seperated) and hit her boyfriend a few times. Is there companies that will hire me after i get my CDL? If i do get hired will getting experience help me get hired with better companies? Thanks

    Call Carolina Cargo. With those kinds of felonies and misdemeanor being less than 10 yrs old, they might be the only company that will hire you. They are known as a second chance company and they can set you up for training.

    get your criminal record expunged as much as you can. misdemeanors can come off. not sure about felonies.

    Call the trucking companies and see what kind of responses you get. Before paying for your school, make sure you can get a job.

    You may not be able to get a job with a mega-carrier but I'm sure you could find a small mom and pop company or owner operator that will take you on. It will just be a little more difficult then hiring on with a mega where they do everything for the driver. Going to require a little more research on your part too. The smaller companies don't spend money on advertising so they are harder to find.

    This may actually work out for the best for you. Now you are forced to find a better company instead of just settling on a mega-carrier! Not sure where you live, maybe fill out the rest of your profile and we can help you. You can try this website too...

    I had a misdemeanor sex case once. The more sex i mis,demeanor i get. And I'm pretty dang hostile about right now.

    The criminal charges you have listed will not keep you from being hired. Hitting a wife's boyfriend is not a good idea as he is just taking over a job you did not want anyway.
