Call NYC tomorrow and get a payment plan! Run your tickets through the NYC system to see how much you owe. Call them tomorrow and set up a payment plan. Call Stevens tomorrow and tell them you "just remembered" about them, and did a follow up, and let them know the outcome. It will probably cost MORE for you to get back home when they find out, then if you just deal with NYC off the bat.
And, they WILL tow your car...all it takes is over a $100 in fines. Which comes out to $1000 after tow fees, late charges, etc...Bastages

toostroke gave out bad information because he doesn't know. he should have kept quiet.

just about every where parking tickets will get your license suspended, as you are a scaflaw.

you had darned well better pay those fines NOW, not later. interest will be tacked on as well.

once your license is suspended, that'll be on your record, and one of the MANY questions asked on an application is, "has your license EVER BEEN suspended, or revoked"

lie about that, and kiss goodbye your plans.

when you learn to accept responsibility for your actions, you will get along better in this world.

you put them off by not paying them, now it has caught up with you.

Like Gizmo said, you better take care of that asap! If your license gets suspended for non payment of traffic fines you will really be screwed then!

Why would you want to be a truck driver? Don't you get paid pretty well as an EMT? I would think that you have a pretty good career right now and you may want to really put some thought into being a driver.

Stevens can be quite forgiving. I had a license suspension in sept. 11 and started at Stevens school on May 12. It was a suspension for an unpaid ticket. That ticket was from an accident in 7/11. I was open and straightforward about it all and it was no problem.

Now.before all the Supertruckers jump on me here... it was a minor accident, rear endes another car at a red light in the rain when I hydroplaned while stopping. Minor damage, no air bags deployed, other car did not hit the car on front of her, and it was my first accident of any kind in 19 years. I actually had almost 60 days to pay the ticket and forgot about it. It was a bit more expensive when I did pay it.

There were also a couple of students who went home to clear up a few licensing issues and then returned to school.

Fimally, at Stevens school you will surrender you current license to the local DPS and be issued a Texas license anyway, so there will be a delay if they try to persue it.

Bottom line is it will be better to handle it first, but Stevens will not disqualify you because of it.

You need some reading comprehension skills. He asked if the unpaid parking tickets would get him disqualified from a driving job. If that was true, I wouldn't have a job. I'm a scofflaw too. They will not even ask about parking tickets, just moving violations.

I agree that he should pay them, if NYC might have his license suspended.

many states are moving towards license suspension for parking scofflaws...

how do you explain to an employer that your license was suspended because of non-payments..??

it IS STILL a suspension...?? right..???

failure to pay a simple parking ticket, then end up getting a license suspension, does NOT bode well to an employer who can see the person as irresponsible. think they wanna trust that person with a high value rig, and the freight as well..??

my reading comprehension skills are just fine.

I am amazed a state can suspend your license, deny renewal, or penalize you so severely over a parking ticket.

In Florida, some drivers have gone to court to have the case thrown out, and succeeded, when charged with running a red light - and they were caught by camera enforcement. Not caught by the police, caught by cameras setup at intersections. These drivers told the court they weren't driving the car. And the court throws the case out because there's no way to prove they were driving the car.

So if there's a parking ticket hanging on your car, how can a state penalize you without proof you parked it. (I know, the answer is "they can do whatever they want until you fight it".)

People will say anything to get out of tickets they deserved in the first place.

    Yes, some people will.

However, that statement is not relevant for the not-guilty. If you weren't driving the car are you responsible for the actions of the person who was driving it? Courts in Florida have ruled you are not responsible.

My point is: the car "deserved" the ticket but the owner didn't deserve the penalty.
