You realize you will most likely be out a month at a time right? There won't be a "commute". You can either find truck parking near you, or have someone pick you up from a drop yard. Some drop yards might let you park a car there. I suggest you do a lot more research into what you're getting into.

Depending on how far you are from where you park your truck, you would have choices of public transportation (bus/taxi), rent a car, get someone to pick you up and return you, or extend your thumb. Naturally, you would get back (somehow) to where you left your truck; it probably isn't going to move during your home time. Same concept about your car (which you don't have, so why am I answering this part of your question?), it would stay at or near where you parked your truck for home time. I wouldn't leave it parked on the street (unless you have no choice); if you're out for a couple of weeks, it's possible that police may think your car is abandoned and impound it, or it may be on cinder blocks by the time you get back to it.

I can appreciate your concerns but I'm sure you have a little bit of common sense (even though you may be driving for CRST) and will get all those things figured out.

Yes, I get that. I'm seeing any regular trip between a terminal and my residence as a "commute", not a daily commute.

OK, so I can leave my (future) car in the same drop yard when I'm OTR that I leave the truck for home time.

Well, I haven't signed anything yet. Where should I go with my brand new Class A and no experience? I've looked at Con-Way, GTI, Central Refrigerated. Maybe I should say, My Class A with all the endorsements is new, but my training is very old and it was not a certified program, it was an Employee Training Program.

Crst has the lead driver be responsible for the truck on home time. I always dropped my co-driver off at his house, and took the tractor home with me. But I put the trailer in a secure lot. I could have left the tractor at their lot also, and got a ride.

You dropped your co-driver off, were they a long way out of your way?

We lived about 48 miles apart. And he could not take the rig home, but I could, I had room to park it in the driveway.
