Not really vast knowledge, just vast mistakes that I have already made and just trying to save others from doing the same.
Thanks though man, I appreciate the kind words...

Great post chompi.
Sent ya a PM. I have to run out here for awhile (taking wife out to dinner) but I will check back later this evening.chompi Thanks this. -
Chompi, I was disagreeing with central sending you to the most cost effective plan, not that you had to follow their plan. I may be wrong though, as others have pointed out the ifta deduction/reimbursement.
-
Right on man, wasn't quite sure what you meant. Fuel routing can be tricky. There are lots of little tricks and tips that Central does to get cheap fuel. They also have accounts and such which give them quite a big discount other than what is posted. Also a lot of drivers don't realize that for example, in GA the fuel is a lot cheaper then say Fl. So every driver fills up in Valdosta before heading into Fl. However you pay a lot more taxes on that fuel later and it ends up costing more than the fuel in Florida!

For the guy wondering about the how to adjust slack adjusters. I did see a very good explanation of how to do the adjustment.
You said you still cannot figure out the adjustment location. So I got a pic for you of the slack adjuster. You see the nut on the lower part of the slack adjuster facing you? The ring around that is the lock ring. That is what you have to push in so that you can adjust the brake.
If it has not been done in a while you may have to smack it a few times. Then the wrench will hold it in as you make the adjustment.

This is not on a big truck, but the same thing.passion4polishing Thanks this. -
Thanks so much for the picture. I already got the brakes fixed this time but this will certainly help next time I pick up a trailer with brakes out of adjustment.
-
Passion make sure that if you do it yourself that when you tighten them up be sure to back it off a half or turn or so. If you don't do it correctly you should be able to feel it when you are driving. Also if you drive for a bit when you stop just walk to the back of the trailer and see if you can smell anything. Smell brakes? Back it off a little more.

New Central driver here. Thought I'd say hi. Doing a 34 in Hammond, LA. Get my first load with my official DM in the morning. Is two weeks about the average you guys have seen for starting to get more miles? I ran a couple of weeks with my introductory DM and now I'm thinking I'll have to spend another couple of weeks proving I can run. Would be nice to start running upwards of 2k miles soon...
-
You should be running 2k without any effort. If your not then rock the boat. It's worth it. You are not making money at the rate you are, just paying for road expenses. Good luck.
-
Rock the boat??? At less than 2000 miles you need to throw your DM's sorry ##### out the boat! it's a shame when you have to beg the people that you work for to let you work!
