I probably end up using straps 80% of the time but I would not consider not having chains. If I can use chains on a load I always do.
Just curious do you not want to use chains for some reason?SHC Thanks this. -
there is always some company somewhere that has what someone is looking for, serious issue here appears to be to do the digging to find them - what strapping has to do with is what the load is so work on it and ask here as sounds like you can do what you are asking
-
most loads are straps anyways.
-
Depends on what your load is, straps are ok for some loads but load requirements differ.

Thanks for the replies.....

*can* sure. Legally, the only freight that prohibits the use of straps are crushed vehicles (where it says no synthetic webbing) and boulders (where it says you must use chains). With that being said, there are plenty of shippers that will require chains for their freight, that's when you're getting into steel coils, and machinery.DrtyDiesel and CAXPT Thank this.

I have never seen a load where it would be impossible to secure with straps but chains are so much better and more practical for some loads.
Why the aversion to chains and binders? -
You get dirty handling chains
CAXPT Thanks this. -
I would probably terminate a driver on the spot if he tried to haul many of our loads only using straps.aiwiron, MackDaddyMark, DrtyDiesel and 1 other person Thank this.
