Overheating ACERT

    How hot are ACERTS supposed to run? Just recently, when working hard my BXS has started to operate at temps around 220 and performance suffers. For the previous few years it was uncommon for it to move much past 200. I just cleaned the radiator, intercooler, and AC condenser. Any ideas?

    How many miles on the motor? Could be water pump or thermostats. When last was an overhead done?

    Overhead was done about 15k ago. Engine has almost 600k total.

    It really could be something simple like a plugged muffler, if you are going to put fuel and air in it you got to be able to get it out

    check for a cac leak or boot leak since you just had them cleaned that will cause it to heat up and performace to suffer also.

    i find that 2 brands of oil causes my engine to run at 210 with the fan. loss of power and fuel mileage.

    another brand that i stick with now. runs at 175 no fan. better performance and fuel mileage

    Mind naming the brands? Local cat dealer gave me crap for not using cat oil, and their recommending using 10w30 in the acerts!

    You have to realize the thermostats don't open fully until 198*F and the fan doesn't come on until 217*F. Is the fan running constantly? It could be as simple as the gauge isn't reading true. If the fan is on constantly while the gauge is reading 220*F than I'd say you have a cooling issue or you're working the truck hard and the engine is producing heat
