I don't cook on my catwalk. Can't. There is crap there..limber for coil racks, air lines, etc. I put it on the trailer. If my load takes up my entire trailer, I'll use my tarp box, but I don't like doing that because the grill doesn't fit good. Sometimes I'll just use it on the ground, under my trailer. On a nice sunny day, it's good to have a little shade. About starting a fire.....a closed grill with no embers to ignite anything? Really? How will that start a fire? It's not like I have hot coals just falling through the bottom air vent...
So I parked at the far quiet end of the truckstop.....

Nevermind. It's not worth polluting the thread with bickering.

I run reefer and if/when I do hit a truck stop I'm there for one reason only,.. and thats because I needed a shower and a place to sleep. I typically come in after dark and the lots are always packed. I take the first hole I can fit my trailer in.
I do give as much courtesy and consideration to other drivers that might be sleeping as possible. I'll kill my headlights coming in the back, I will crawl in with just enough rpm not to lug it down instead of screaming in 2nd gear at 1500+ as I have seen others do.
As for me idling my truck and my reefer running full tilt. Well sorry folks,.. if its 98f out and 200 degree back in my sleeper,.. I'm idling my truck. If I have a frozen load that needs to be kept at -10 on continuous mode and its 98f outside. Sorry,.. that reefer is going to be running pretty hard to keep the temps inside down. I have grown used to it and sleep through it. Even on start/stop mode I sleep through it like a baby. I dont purposely park next to you. Like I said,.. I try to avoid truck stops in general. Laundry and a shower are the main reason I am there. Else I would be somewhere much more pleasant to me.

Most reefers are quieter than ever these days. I m sitting at the TA in Duncan SC, next to an England driver. Both of ours are set at -10(Mine is a Carrier XTC and his is a TK SB 230). The only time either one of ours gets loud unless its going in and coming out of defrost. If you really want to cry about a loud reefer, try being parked next to a driver with an Carrier Phoenix or Thermo King Smart reefer
