Just a lil info about Swift..........

I went june 18 2012 to Tennessee Swift school. You go to there facilty, if you dont have a DOT Physical, or they dont approve it you pay $40 bucks to get one. Remind you 50 people came in, 25 had to go home because "they did pass" the physical part.
All said and done 15 people left over including me.Tuesday go to class do paper work then instrutor gives you paper logs to fill out for the time you are there. Wednesday is range straight line back all day. Instrutors passed some people I dont think they should have passed.
Thrusday they show you the 90 maneuver and Offset and along with the Blind side and Sight side parrallel. Friday they show you drop landing gear and pretrip.
You can do some practice on your maneuvers on Friday, till 1 pm when the class from last week comes in and the ones who did not pass the text thrusday night, take test again on the ones they missed unless they got pointed out. Remind you you have to get 36 or 38 hours of drive time on your logs.
What I have notice right off the back they was more women being held back and failed over small things such a the tire an 1 inch out. Saturday practice all day till 5pm. Sunday is class test on chapter 6,7,21 and another chapter. Then some other tests. Then he shows you how to do mapping for final class.

Monday 6 pm you go into the range you practice till 500am. same thing for Tuesday And Wed. Thrusday comes along night shift you guys make sure you have cheap flashlights. You test out at night. You have the 11 point system. Now states Virginia, Illinois, and Wisconsin only have to do 45 degree and the curb maneuver and straight line forward at line. Meaning if you hit the cone its 2 points if you pull forward one point. Friday everyone goes back in at 1pm and is mixed with the new class, you get out at 9pm. For the ones who passed Saturday you go to class then Sunday go home.

For the ones who failed you get AP. Academic probation.If you get AP next week on Thrusday night you have to do all maneuvers again. Also the ones who fail you go in with the new class and follow there class means Saturday during the day range Sunday class, Monday night you go night shift. Also the ones who pass the frist time around, Sunday you take the mapping test, then go home to take the driving test at DMV. Swift instructor will give you a lil packet that explains shifting. Omce you pass that you go back to the school where you do 12 hours of drive time with another instructor. Once pass that you go to your terminal and get orientation. When you get a driver code you are now a SWIFTY.


Now that being said instructors were tough which is good, but the way they treated woman failing them and what not, well was not right.Some women were the 4 weeks but some were plain stupid and was not trying hard enough. Swift school is some what good. But I chose to go home and go to a private school and pay half the price and in school for 5 weeks. But if you stay pass the 9 the day you have to pay back $3900 plus the $500 for the hotel. I'am not giving up I got my CDL on my own and my hazmat and tankers. But was told by a Swift recuriter I had to go to school. So now I have to pay back 3900 fine not complaining because it will make my credit go up once paid off.


Just the tricks they play on people is wrong. I love the road and have much respect for truck drivers. With that being said check into private schools save your money. My only problem is I have no experience but i have a CDL and Hazmat endorsement along with tankers that I paid on my own.Only way to get into trucking now is school or plenty of backup on exp. It will make me a stronger person and a #### good driver at the end. So that is my 2 cents. Dont listen to what others say about these companys, alot is not true. This is for "shootthis" I'am not here for bashing.......so none need to be needed thank you. Yes I failed blind side, so i went home found out it was better to just go to a private school. They have recruiters that go there also. And yes I have to pay back because once you pass the 9 day you pay back full amount.

 

Sorry thought it was common sense but yes I failed, then they wanted me to stay another week and do all 5 maneuvers again.And if I failed on one again you stay another week. What they dont tell you because they want you to pass frist time, is you can have 3 AP s. It was crazy about the point they knocked me for it. But hey i did learn how to move the trailer how to do my setups right, and logging. Just crazy even though I have a CDL I have to go threw all this to get it, but I respect it and take it for what it is. Lesson learned in life Expense one.....
