Celadon appears to be trying to buy everyone out...are they trying to be like swift??..this is getting ridiculous and it only hurts the drivers because it reduces choices for drivers to drive for.

 

They just did this to Hiner Transport of Huntington, Indiana. Bought them out, told the drivers "see ya". I used to work for CEI in 2004 before they bought them out as well. Celadon is a ####### of a company.

 

not to try to say it happened or it didnt happen but an observation--
why would it make sense to buy a company out and take on their freight then fire their drivers?

 

I don't buy a word of it. When a company takes over another, in ANY line of work, one of the first details that get worked out is how many of the employees are going to stay. I don't think Celadon got into this to lose drivers or just toss them to the side or just plain fire them unless they had a less then stellar record with the previous company.

 

They are only making all these acquisitions for the customer base. They sell off the equipment immediately and in result don't need the drivers. Sucks but that's the way it is. Good luck to all those without a job now.

 

I understand the reasoning behind buying a company out but with the driver shortage I am hearing of most companies cannot afford to pick those customers up then fire every driver from the acquired company no matter how many trucks they have.
It just doesn't add up.

 

There is NO DRIVER SHORTAGE!!....the only co's that claim this have a 200% turnover rate and blame that for a shortage...if these BFI co's would learn to treat these drivers 1000x's better than what they do, they wouldn't lose so many drivers...

So frankly, I have absolutely no pity on any of these co's, they brought it all on themselves!

 

There is a steering wheel holder shortage, not a driver shortage. They just can't find people to work for them for short pay. Most of us that have any time out here that know anything about this industry wouldn't work for what a company like celadon would pay.
