:) Faster or slower as long as your not keeping pace.. LOL of course their is that chance you might blow out a tire or have a mechanical defect at a high rate of speed the could mean impending doom, that could have been survivable at a slower speed. AHHH what the heck??? GO FOR IT!!! LOL

I will just say that the ISX creates max TQ at 1200 (they don't really want you running that high 'by the book') and max HP at 1800, with a max governed speed of 2100rpm. The engine brake creates max 'negative hp' (braking power) from 1800-2100. They are wasting the ability of those engines greatly, but getting great MPG, and saving the company millions in fuel prices, and CSA scores from not allowing inexperienced drivers the ability to speed. If you think driving 60-62 is hard, try getting stuck behind one of you! lol

The ISX Cummins 425 in my last two 587s made it's max torque (around 1600 ft-lbs) at 1100 rpm. It was like night and day between it and my old 387, which made similar max torque at 1200 rpm. The 387 would shudder at anything less than 1250 pulling a hill forcing me to start downshifting earlier. That 100 rpm lower torque made the 587 feel lots more powerful.

At any rate, I saw no need to shift any higher than 1300-1400 rpm when on the high side of the trans. The 2-4 shift can be done at 800-900 rpm unless I was heavy, pulling an incline, and had to have to extra speed to keep from falling below 1100 rpm on the next shift (that onramp you take to leave the Pilot in Denver to get on to I-70 WEST comes to mind.)

And if you think 61 mph is bad... try 57 mph trucks. They teach patience.

    Good find there Efon.

Notwithstanding, any company that monitors and analyzes every shift of it's drivers via the Qualcomm Sensor Tracs and calls the driver out for missing RPM range shifts at 1170 & 1360 is just freaking lame.

Good Lord, I'm SO happy I got away from May Trucking in retrospect.

Sounds like Steve the movie star & Paloma the O/O are as happy as oysters in the shell though ;-) More power to them.

C'mon, Steve. You mean to tell me if you weren't goverened at 60 mph at May and you were driving in Wyoming where the speed limit for big rigs is 75 mph, you'd still be driving at 60 in order to avoid "impending doom"? LOL

My truck is NOT governed... in Wyoming I dont go over 65 ..why? I tested and tested... at 75 mph, I do nothing but throw money out the window ... Fuel economy goes WAY down at high speeds. ... Generally I drive 60-63 mph.

The placard on the new ISX engine's cylinder head states the peak torque is 1100 rpm.
