can anyone point me in the direction of a good smaller flatbed company?
I worked for Maverick for a while, so i'm not interested in any mega-super-duper-training company's (i.e. Maverick, TMC, Boyd Brothers, etc, etc...)
Maverick treated me alright, but i'm too pissed off at them to ever consider driving for them again.
I've talked to Jaro Transportation, but i'm too far south of their hiring area. I've also spoken to someone at Boyd and Sons, but they don't pay too well in my opinion. I've been eyeballing Hoge Motor Transport, but i'm not to sure of their hiring area either.
the company I work for now was suppose to use me for flatbed work, but I've pulled mostly vans lately, it pays well, but I ####### hate vans with a flaming passion.
I miss my flat.
is there anyone else i've missed?
thanks
good small flatbed company's?

Melton ? they are from oklahoma i think with TMC you get to take the truck home and u are with in the hiring area

Find your local company that has only a few trucks and runs flats. Home most weekends, pay is better, nicer trucks(sometimes) and mostly here in KY with small companys its a take pride in your ride thing. 379s and w9s. (this is just what I've found)

everyone here on my end of the state is all reefer's and dry vans, nobody does flats.
a nice truck would be ideal, since I keep one like I own it. I figure if it's gonna be my home for the week, i'll keep it like my home. -
i've seen firsthand all the waiting Melton drivers used to do between loads, I don't know if that's still the case, but it sure sucked for them.
and TMC, no thanks. I have several friend's who work there, and i'm not impressed with what I hear. That, and 62 MPH Pete's.... I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

thank's, I don't think i've ever met a PGT driver that had anything bad to say about them, even the lease/purchase guys.

And what pray tell could Maverick have done to piss you off?

Wait till you see their equipment if it's still as bad as when I saw it. Their acronym stands for Pittsburgh Garbage Trucking.
Averitt has speed limiting too, but they have flatbed closer to you out of TN.
Here, try this link to check out flatbed carriers in your area:

I was referring to their trailers and the truck/trailer wiring setup.
