OK, I have done some more research and it looks like being resident in Ocala,FL. is actually one of the worst places to get hired from,so I will move to Dallas,TX.
A lot of companies will not accept an application for employment until my car licence is One Year old (june 2013) so it looks like I have to stay in the Uk a bit longer...
I am expecting, that if I arrive in Dallas in May,then I will have enough time to convert my licence and open a bank account ,apply for a CDL permit and do all the necessary bits and pieces to be able to apply to companies from june.
does any one know if the Texas car licence will backdated to the date I got my florida licence or will it be a brand new licence (i.e. do i have to wait another year?)
I will do some more research to find out ,if there are any other time restraints,I don't want to get there and find I have to wait some more time before I can move to the next stage.
It LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE LOADS OF SCHOOLS TO CHOOSE FROM IN texas AND LOADS OF COMPANIES HIRE from Dallas so that bit looks alright.
I have decided I want to do Flatbed,so I think I will do van or Reefer for a while until,I feel ready to train for Flat bed.
Oh, and I won't want live in my truck forever, apparently I will get sick of seeing the truck so I will use hotels all around the USA for my 'home time',it still sounds like a great lifestyle for me.
Any comments/advice??

Might be not a bad idea if you rode with someone for a couple off weeks.
Concider it a working/learning holiday.
It might give you a better view off life on the road.
There are plenty off O/O here who might let you tag along.
Because all your plans are nice but from what i read they come out off no experience or knowledge about trucking.(not having a go at you)
And also,at this stage you still have the UK welfare state safetynet. -
THANKS,GREAT IDEA,thats why I recently came over to the states and rode with someone in a truck ,so just that little experience of tagging along,it was more or less as expected, just up my street, and thats why I came to the states to do that and pick up the car licence.
well this site provides quite a lot of knowledge and also there are anther sites and youtube and google....loads of places to gain knowledge,if not experience.
the uk welfare state safety net doesn't actually help in anyway to put me in a truck, nor help with embracing the new lifestyle which I seek. -
Just don't forget you have to drive on the other side of the road, no being rude, but, I sometimes get mixed up after coming back home what side I need to be on for a few seconds out of the drive way.
