CDL B going for CDL A. I have HAZMAT and tanker. No luck with CDL B being new driver. I see it pays good hauling fuel/petroleum. It will be awhile 2-3 years T/T to qualify.
My question is: within my first couple of years if the company I work for happens to have a hazmat load and I am asked, should I take it?
Would it be a good move or a set up. I overheard a terrible story regarding this. But everyone has had a bad experience.

Won't that HM endorsement transfer to a class A? Call your DMV.
Long as you have the endorsement there is no reason you can't haul it unless you don't want to. -
MORE THAN LIKELY, DEPENDING ON COMPANY, YOU WILL BE UNDER "FORCED DISPATCH. WHICH MEANS, YOU TAKE WHAT THEY GIVE YOU.
IT USUALLY PAYS A FEW CENTS MORE PER MILE (AGAIN DEPENDING ON cO. MINE IS .03 EXTRA) BUT A LOT OF THE TIME, DEPENDING ON ROUTE/DESTINATION IT WON'T BE MORE MONEY PER MILE BECAUSE OF "LOOPING" THE CITIES ON THE DESIGNATED HC ROUTE. -
yes I believe it does transfer over. So still no CDL A experience and no hazmat experience equals paying dues for 2-3yrs in T/T at least.

Hazmat Carrier route, sometimes denoted by an H in a circle (on a road sign). Some cities do not allow trucks hauling placarded loads to go through town (Indy is one, for example).
And yes CEN, to get to a fuel hauling job, you will need at least 2-3 years of OTR experience, not neccessarily tanker exp (most companies will train qualified drivers). -
