    As a solo you will get a used truck most likely. It could be automatic, but not many left of those.
    They are replacing the fleet with new manual shift trucks. I got a
    2012 Cascadia with 230k it's a 10 speed.

    Really really dumb question coming. I've never driven a new truck. The newest is probably an 05. What is "Def?". I mean I know u have to use in new trucks of course but is it something to do with the exhaust?

    DEF=Diesel Exhaust Fluid

    It sprays into the exhaust and breaks the emissions down into nitrogen and water. More environmentally friendly.

    I think the tank is about 20 gallons, we usually top it off with 7 or 8 gallons a couple times a week. Lots of the truck stops have it available right at the pumps now.

    Try to avoid getting it all over your clothes and other parts of the truck too. That stuff eats away at almost everything. Nasty stuff for sure. They gotta do something different. That was just a band aid fix. Along with DPF filters in the exhaust...burns cleaner but burns more fuel. Hmmm. Kinda seems like it cancels each other out no? I had a DPF on my 2010 dodge cummins and that thing sucked. Cut it off and magically gained 4-5 mpg. But shh don't tell the FEDS hahaha

    5speed Thanks this.

    Not a band aid anymore with what the truckstops have invested in the putting the pumps in

    Nah DEF will be gone in a few years on new trucks. International has found a way to avoid using it. DEF from the start was just a way for the motor companies to limp their current engines by the new/updated EPA standards on emissions. They are all working on different technology to get around using it. It will still be needed at the pumps for a long time with all the current trucks out there that need it and will be around for awhile. But in a few years they will have something else to stop using it. It's added a major cost to the trucking companies and we all know they don't like spending any more than they have to! Lol
