I never had a problem with U.S. Xpress they have some of the best equipment and plenty of miles they aren't going anywhere and they will keep you rolling unless your lazy and can't figure out E logs.

I had a situation where my wife went into early labor they had me drop my trailer park my 2011 387 in a secure lot got me a rental car from Colorado to Kansas with a week off all in the last minute.

But don't take my word for it "I only worked for them"!!! geez if you never worked for them don't respond they don't make people speed and they have more miles then you can handle like most companies unless your a T/S queen!!

Pretty sure alot changes in this industry in 6 years.....isn't USX one of the top companies when it comes to CSA scores? I know we blow other big carriers out of the water.

I appreciate everyone's input. I'm just trying to find out as much as I can from everyone I can before I commit to them. I mean I have talked to recruiting but you know they'll tell me anything I want to hear.

They don't make people speed .They don't stop them either . I see plenty of USX trucks speeding and with e-logs the carrier knows they're speeding . They are also one of the carriers with quite a few short term dedicated retail accounts. There is no security in those jobs.
Since they have such a high turnover most of their drivers probably don't remember their PrePasses being redlighted at scales in '07 due to their poor safety rating.

I wonder why someone would think that having several dedicated accounts is a bad thing, I guess I never realized putting all your eggs in one basket was the smart thing to do.

I'm sure the small trucking companies today with only one or two customers aren't pushing their drivers at all. They're just sitting back getting rich because they provide such a superior service that their customer is willing to overpay for their transportation services indefinitely.

    Not.

    C'mon, get real.

I really like the comment that they know the drivers are speeding through work zones and don't stop them from doing it.

    Quit being stupid.

5speed, you know how much you are getting paid now and how many miles you average. Ask the recruiter what the pay is for your experience level and compare. OTR uses a sliding pay scale so ask about that also. If the recruiter doesn't know what the pay rate for you will be or what the mileage pay changes are for the sliding pay scale, ask them to find out for you. Don't let them rush you into orientation until you find out everything that you need to know. They get paid to fill the seats at orientation, but they will take the time to find the answers for you if you ask.

You also know what you require for home time, figure 3-4 weeks out at USX unless you get on a dedicated account.

Factor in your health insurance benefits, I know that I am getting better coverage here than I was with the small carrier that I worked for at nearly half the cost weekly.

I am also new to a large trucking company, but I came here to run as a team. When I was running solo though, I know that I was making the same money as I was making with the small carrier that I was with for 10 years, without running as hard and with less headaches. Not to mention the cheaper insurance.

Just do your homework and don't listen to people with outdated thinking that have nothing better to do than bash companies that they have probably never worked for.

With e-logs the carrier knows what speed the driver is going every minute and where they are when they are doing it .
Lots of dedicated accounts means lots of drivers out of work when another BFI comes in and bids lower in another couple of years.
Yes there are smaller carriers that don't push their drivers . Our drivers are told to stop if they're tired no matter how many hours they have available . I'm home 3 or more nights a week , usually take home over $900 a week and run under 2,500 miles a week . My terminal has had the same shippers for over 15 years . So who's stupid ?

Since when do the e-logs know what the speed limit is? Must be the newest version of the driver tech I haven't gotten yet. Should we let a robot drive the truck too? No matter what company it's all on the driver when it comes to speed. Good for you and your company but your profile says you've been a driver for 35 years. And your only making $900 a week? Why? I have friends and family making WAY above that with 30 years less experience. Who's stupid now?

Don't waste your time with USX....I won't lie to you...You will know immediately at orientation that you've made a mistake if you go there.. They have good equipment, but that's all. Dumbest planners in the industry...And I've been there recently, not 2006. If you team, you may be alright, but not solo....Believe me.... Even as bad as Werner is,,,,,,, they are royalty compared to USX... USX SUCKS THE BIG ONE....

A six year old violation is the best you can do? Been with the company almost two years and very happy. Great equipment and good people. But what do I know, I just work there making about 60k a year.
