One winter night, at a Pilot in TN I saw a driver dead on the ground, he was hit and dragged a few yards by a truck while walking in the parking lot...I don't know how it happened... Whose fault was... I will never forget the motionless body on the ground and the indescribable look on the face of the driver who hit and killed the other one.... It was the saddest, most depressing and distressing thing I have ever seen since when I started trucking...
A real sad night for many of us, drivers at that Pilot.

Used to be a rule of thumb to stay in the lowest gear while in a truck stop parking lot or anywhere that you could run someone over, but those days are long gone.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

Along with most other common sense, it seems.aiwiron Thanks this.

Agree with both of you. I only put it in high if its steep like in some pisslot's, my common sense tells me if I should go behind that truck backing up, or wait. 100% of the time it says wait and help if he's having trouble.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Smart to wait for the truck, I always turn on my 4 ways if going in reverse.
Not like most of us would notice strolling a parking lot but I do it anyways-insert name- and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
4-ways are a good thing, but then when you got it lined up, someone decides to walk behind you and you panic, yank the wheel and lock it up. Then start wondering if you got a body on your ICC bumper.

This is sad but today everyone seems to be in a hurry and only thinking about themselves
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
This is a direct result of co's not giving a darn who they hire...it looks like nowadays that if you have a pulse, these trashy co's will hire you....
These co's claim that they care about safety...that's bs...they only care about $$$ in the name of safety.-insert name- and TRKRSHONEY Thank this.
