Agreed. No conviction, No record, no problem. But he must answer NO when they ask on application. Is the suspension on his record? They will ask that too. Spend a few bucks and check his driving record, make double sure. You wouldn't want to spend the training money only to get fired on the road. I've seen it happen so many times. Also, this is a "mouth shut" subject after he starts school. To many tattle tales out there.

Woody & skateboard & to the rest of you thank you very much for your time and replies!!! Thats why I joined this forum! Plenty of good honest answers and people. In illinois if you have a FIRST DUI u often have the opportunity to be placed on supervision. Basically its a year long continuance, u plead guilty but no conviction is put into place, and if u pass the supervision you are free to go. However, if you get a second DUI you then get convicted for the first DUI along with the second. In the past you were able to get your first DUI expunged and when you got a 2nd DUI its like the first never happened. In essence you could have gotten several "first" DUI's. It is due to that little loophole that Illinois put that supervision opportunity into play, now your first DUI may allow you to NOT get a conviction but you CAN NOT get it expunged. We were worried that the insurance may go through the roof and at first state farm saw that he was arrested for the DUI. Then after a year and completing his supervision we were looking into switching insurance companies and they had NO record of his dui. Maby we are unnecessarily worried and in this time and year he really did get a second chance. And as far as salary goes, a long haul trucker can make more starting off then the beginners salary at a shop. Its also not all about the money to him. As weird as it may seem, hes been telling me hes still young and truck driving for a little while is just something he would like to. A young man can handle a tough job, I know I'm getting up there and its starting to take a toll on me. The plan was for him to get some experience anywhere and then going to work for my company where he will make more then a starting wage for a mechanic. He wants to have his own shop and i have to admit he has some very good marketing ideas. Hell, hopefully hes successful and possibly he can get me a job once I'm too old to be on the road five days a week.
"P.S. He did get beat with a wet noodle and I let him visit our house every Sunday for one year for lunch and allowed him to cut our lawn if he was going to get help paying for lawyers and fines. I am told the John Deer worked very well and that if he had the chance to get a second DUI, he will pass on that offer but he enjoyed yard work very much(sarcasm of course) :laughing-guffaw:

I'm not sure about a driving conviction but if you plead quilty to a criminal conviction to get a suspended sentence or probation before judgement it is still a conviction in the eyes of the dot (its in the little green book),even if its not a conviction in your state.

I think you read that wrong or I didn't explain it properly. I get what your saying but it is not like that. Its the same thing as getting a speeding ticket and asking for supervision. Instead of a couple months the supervision is 1-2yrs. I called my insurance again and they have no record of my son getting a DUI. I work for mainly Polish companies and I do not know how different the history check is for us CDL drivers. Anyone know if our regular car insurance did not find a DUI, does that mean a trucking companies insurance will not find it either?
