    Exit 310.

I work for a nation wide company in Management. we have terminals in Phoenix and Tuson. The advice I can give you is "be confident and don't BS in your interview. Show confidence and the willingness to put 100 percent into the job. Make sure that you understand what you are getting into. Gas hauling is good and most love it, but you still need to understand the work schedules, Day, nights, vacations. It's not that hard, but mistakes can be costly. Make sure you can drive and shift. I've turned down a few drivers because they can't drive. No time to train on basics. Keep calling until they say "yes" or "no". a lot of companies have taken the reqruiter away and now the Terminal Managers have to interview and hire, so they are busy. Good Luck.

    WideSkyND Thanks this.

That's the way we've always done it at ARCO. The process my start at corporate but the test is at the terminal.

Thanks Dune for your advice on this matter. The school that i`m attending we have been training on 10 speed & 12 speed automatic. We even spent time with a Tanker discussing the road handling, vapor locks, loading & unloading.
I`ll admit i had a little trouble double clucthing at first but i`ve got it now.

You don't need a reqruiter. Your company takes my good/experienced drivers. I have to train them from scratch.

Yes, this Friday is my last day. I want to haul Fuel real bad, but i know it`s going to be tough for me to get a job hauling fuel.I have a clean records, got all my credentials even TWIC, but no driving experience.

I`m just hoping some company is willing to take a chance on me.My theory is I know i can do this job & i`m willing to be trained to do it the way they want it done.

You might have to start hauling milk or water!! Yeah, I know this isn't what you want to hear but you have to show proof that you can move liquids down the road safely and without incident!! Milk is a real challange since most of the tanks are smooth bore!! I'm betting a year or two yanking these tanks down the road and you will have no problem slipping into a fuel hauling position!! On the flip side there are some people that have went straight into fuel hauling but this is not the norm!!

Don't worry we all were there at one time. I started over the road and then I found a local job. When I got my two years in. I got on with a great tanker company in California and been in petroleum tanker industry ever since. It's been 21 years. I ended up in management for 10 years but Jump into a trufk every chance i get to keep my skills up. I am now in the process of getting my own truck and getting back behind the wheel. Hauling petroleum products of course.
It's not the companies restrictions it is the insurance company.
Once you get trucking that time will go fast.:biggrin_25519:
