Hey everybody. Long time lurker, but I finally decided to start my journey to becoming a professional trucker. I've been at my current dead end job way too long and finally decided it's time for a real career. I want to get my CDL A as soon as possible but I'm kind of stuck on which school I should go with. I'm located about 5 minutes west of Philadelphia. I'm hoping you guys have feedback on some local schools. I know that I'm definitely not interested in All State. I've narrowed down my choice to AAA School Of Trucking (Philadelphia), Smith & Solomon (Norristown), and Delaware County Community College at the CAT- Pickering Campus (Through Sage).
My goal after I graduate would be to get on with either FedEx Freight or Con-Way as a driver trainee/apprentice. I know that's kind of getting ahead of myself but I'm excited at the thought of earning some good money for once in my life. Thanks in advance.
Good school near Philadelphia?

I'm in the same boat as you, I'm up in the air about AAA Trucking on Girrard St, Smith-Solomon an Richmond St, and All-State Careers in Lester/Essington. AAA Trucking is backed by both VA and the State, and if your drawing UE benefits is where UE will suggest you go. I've been to Smith Solomon to talk to them but the recruiter there came across like I was bothering her. I haven't checked out AAA or All-State yet, but All-State is down by the Airport. Keep posting your progress on here, I'll be following it to help me make a decision.

I was at Smith solomon in 08 they are pretty good, but you must be self motivated. they will teach you the basics like pretrip for ex.then you have to go out and do it. get as much wheel time as possible repitition is everything. just remember they are only there to get you to pass the test. if you have any other questions you can pm me
