ok.....ummmmmmm, I'm missing something here. Sooooo, you worked for them for a week (or just a bit more) 2 years ago and quit them. Then 2 years later they call you and beg you to come back as if you were the only guy in the state with a CDL?? Man, there's a pretty big piece missing out of the middle of this story.

I run reefer basically through the midwest and some east coast, really decent non-stree lanes. The more I talk about my current company the dumber I feel for having "strayed."

Nope. That is the whole story. I never figured it out either. I am hardly the smartest guy in the world and am not going to in any truck driving rodeos. I worked there for one week. I quit on the eighth day after the whole wake up incident. They sent me letters every few months and called me a few times. I always cut the calls off until she said dedicated and 3500 miles a week. In hindsight I should have known they were lying but you know how it is sometimes. Agter I got the automated call I called the human resource person ands, let's just say I doubt they will be calling me anymore. Anyway, no middle. That is it. The whole story. I put it in two parts because of the time in between, but apperntly that offends some people here, I am new to this whole on line thing.

Well, if that's what happened, that's what happened.
I'm glad you got your old job back.
    Lesson learned:
If a company is willing to make you bail out on your current company without proper notice, then they will do the same to you.

If its too good to be true then it usually is... And why would they call someone who quit 2 yrs ago for a dedicated 3500 mile 4 days a week run when they have some 600 drivers already? I bet you're thanking your lucky stars your current company took you back. No way in hell would I let you back after quitting with NO notice.

One week and you quit the first time?

Smart phones do have a setting - alarm only/no calls. Remember, you run your log book. If a DM had called me, I would have said send it over the QC and take a picture of it. Then send it to the safety dept the next day. If they refuse, you refuse, but then again, if you are on your DOT break you do not move. Any accidents and they will be your fault no matter what...

I'm just wondering why you'd think that someone in management would remember they had trucks late for loads two years ago?

Hmm 3500 miles in four days is 879 miles per day. Drive for 11 hours equals 79.5 mph.

Didn't sound to good to be true did it?
