I met a guy that worked for Stevens who ran 8.5 everyday for 72 days & never ran out of hours. I did the math with him & it really did workout. "HE HAS NO LIFE"

OMG that is what is wrong i have been out 70 days one reset and have 22 hours at midnite
I HAVE NO LIFE.........sighZen Trucker Thanks this. -
Ok, question for the 8.75 crowd... What kind of mileage are you seeing on average? I'm relatively new and learning more daily. I still don't have a preferred way to run, I just hate sitting still. They give me a load and I can figure out in five minutes if I can make my stops. In less than fifteen I can put in my rest stops and find out what times I'm going into large cities. it's the days here you're at a shipper, a receiver, and never mind a busy truck wash trying to get a washout done on te trailer... Those days make me run ten and eleven hours because three trips a week just doesn't do it for me.

if i'm not running out my hours and doing a reset. then i'm not making money. therefore i would have no life either. -

don't talk on the cell phone. and you won't have a record.
i'm a safer driver then you and your box will ever be. cuz i don't work on a leash.
if i go to sleep and only get 5 hours. then i'm sitting up awake for 5 hours. now it's time to drive 11 hours. but i start getting tired after the 1st hour. so i spend the next 10 hours driving tired. after i've already been awake 5 hours prior.
is that really the kind of driving you want to do.

Wooly Rhino said: ↑The reason there is a 70 hour rule and an 11 hour rule is because the DOT is trying to keep us from being worked to death and to keep wages up. All prices come from supply and demand. If you reduce the supply of labor the price for labor goes up. Trying to "beat the system" will lead to lower wages. It is stupid in the long run.Click to expand...

There are 24 hrs in a day, 24x7=168 hours in a week.
11.5 hr working (11 drive .5 pre/post trips & fuel) then 10 sleeper.
11.5+10+11.5+10+11.5+10+11.5+10+11.5+10+11.5=119 hours (69 on duty/driving)
168-119=49. So, with a 34 hour reset, 49-34=15, you could work 84 hours in seven days legally but with shippers/receivers and the fact that this will pretty much exhaust anyone... It's next to impossible but as far as I can tell perfectly legal. Oh yeah and you better have a colostomy bag! Discuss!!Click to expand...Last edited: Aug 18, 2012
