So what do you recommend I do? I have a friend that owns a truck he can teach me but I don't think that would be very wise....

Give commercial driver training a call and see what the costs are. after being in buisness for over 40 years, i,m sure they are certified.

It's not that smaller trailers are harder to back per se. It's more the length ratio of the tractor to the trailer. For instance, if you were to have a long tractor with a short trailer, it will take much longer for a steering correction to take effect. On the other hand, if you have a shorter tractor with a long trailer, it gives the driver more time to correct any drift making it much easier to back accurately.

As Marksteven said, there is a school on Long Island called Commercial Driver Training. I believe they are in Babylon.

There is a school here in the bronx called CDL school they certify you, but the only downside is that there main facility is in albany where they train you to get ur cld class a and they also get you pre hired with a company money wise they are expensive your gonna be looking at about $6500....... 1000-1300 up front its a 3week course the good thing is that the companies pick up whats left of the 6500 as long as ur working for them
