Well, it might cause the turbo to begin spinning up .5 - 1 second sooner than if you roll on the throttle smoothly.
Might, maybe...
More likely you would just add stress to the rest of the drivetrain.

But, it does.
It helps you to not rely on yourself as much, because the 'fat cat rich types' are supposed to make up for your own slack. -
Sliding your tandems back will help keep you from getting blown over in the wind.

the engine jakebrake does not make any engine heat it cools off the engine watch your pyro next time you will see, as for the fan slowing you down it does a slight amount and is noticeable
now if your talking about a CAT engine retarder, that thing will increase oil temp alot but don't see those much anymore -
this depends on the trailer and the conditions. I've done it both ways and had different results each time.CommDriver Thanks this.

Here I thought the fan was run by air pressure. I'm not trying to bw smart or something. It's just what I thought.. Cuz I noticed an air line going to mine. I'm not mechanically inclined

Edited to add.. Maybe the airline stops my fan. I think I remember being told I could sever the airline to keep the fan running. Sorry, I'm just curious about this now. Anyone know? -
The air [pressure] is used to keep the fan clutch DIS-engaged. Cut the air, fan will run continuous. It is controlled by an electrically activated solenoid but that has nothing to do with the myth being perpetrated ...
The concept of the fan possibly slowing a truck I suppose has to do with the slight load this drag adds to the engine to forcibly turn this fan in a dense air environment and if an engine has to work to turn the fan, conversely, wouldn't an engaged fan work to drag the engine down??? I don't buy it either.hup Thanks this.
